... looking down at everyone from the top of the league.

We've always taken good numbers as it's easy there and back in the day, next Sunday will be no exception. Sadly there's a fair few, like me, who can't get tickets otherwise we'd probably take another thousand. There's been a fair few memorable matches over the years and we've often done well, a 4-1 win down there being my favourite. We'd gone down wearing suits, for some reason, and 'somehow' ended up in the Hull Christmas reception with Phil Brown giving a speech in which he predicted a 4-1 win <whistle>

We were in the Hull section until Steed fired us ahead, with a really sweet goal that we were right behind. That was the point at which we were asked to leave so we just stepped across 'no man's land' into the Sunderland section from where we taunted our original hosts. But things were a lot tamer by then so you could get away with it unlike the 70's and 80's when we'd regularly have running battles complete with police horses on the terraces, pitch invasions, etc. On one occasion a ginger bearded Hull nutter came out of their end, armed with an axe, and ran across the pitch towards our side ...

... sadly the police felled him before he could get to where the Peterlee lads were fighting with each other to be first to have a go at him <laugh>

Hull are unpredictable having been beaten by top teams Norwich, Sheff Utd and Leeds but beating QPR, Stoke and Cardiff. Leeds and Sheff Utd play on Friday and a home win would probably keep us top but I'd prefer a draw which would make Sunday even more interesting.

I haven’t been since that FA Cup quarter final under Poyet. The less said about that day, the better <doh>

Driving down next week. Looking forward to it

I was due to go but had a tiff with the police at Nice airport so missed my flight, bless them.

Hope you have a good day and come back singing, watch out for the locals though ...

... poor losers despite all their practice <laugh>

Hopefully they've stopped this embarrassing shyte

The season we were unstoppable at home in all of the cups. Won every home game in the league cup and FA Cup! Only lost the semi of the league cup at Man Utd, the final at Wembley and that game at hull!!

I think there's a photo in The Museum, I'm on it with a lad from Shotton, Robin Connelly, and a lad off my minibus. We were ambushed leaving Hull, under a railway bridge, so we all piled out.

Glen, from Mansfield, caught one of them who said 'Please don't hit me, I've already been beaten up once today' but he was put on his arse ...

... since then he's always been known as Glen the Merciless <laugh>

I was at that game. Ricketts should’ve been straight red for both of his tackles! Awful

I drove to that game on in my 1100. After match had finished we were stuck in traffic jam,red and white scarves hanging out of window. This woman came out of her front door with 4 glasses on her tray. She knocked on car window and gave each of us a glass containing a tot of whisky.Never forget that, away matches were enjoyable in those days

Nowt like a bit if casual drink-driving in those days.

Really fancied this one, but away tickets are like rocking horse ****e right now....

A game we should be looking to win, hopefully with a strong bench assuming Mayenda, Ballard, Connolly and co are all available.

There used to be a little bar next to or near the Howard Arms on Roker Avenue, they had some brilliant large photos on the wall of that day with the police horses on the terraces

Steed was a hell of a player on his day...

Hope there are no recent injuries after the international break, a return of one or two players and a stronger bench.

Fair point, I'm hoping we start to handle these breaks better now ...

... they're an absolute pain in the arse for me, I've no idea what this competition is they're playing for tbh.

I suspect Ballard, or his country, were told to forget any idea of him turning out.

Rigg is clearly good enough to play for England so there's no point in him proving it continually ...

... let someone else have a turn <laugh>
