... looking down at everyone from the top of the league.
We've always taken good numbers as it's easy there and back in the day, next Sunday will be no exception. Sadly there's a fair few, like me, who can't get tickets otherwise we'd probably take another thousand. There's been a fair few memorable matches over the years and we've often done well, a 4-1 win down there being my favourite. We'd gone down wearing suits, for some reason, and 'somehow' ended up in the Hull Christmas reception with Phil Brown giving a speech in which he predicted a 4-1 win
We were in the Hull section until Steed fired us ahead, with a really sweet goal that we were right behind. That was the point at which we were asked to leave so we just stepped across 'no man's land' into the Sunderland section from where we taunted our original hosts. But things were a lot tamer by then so you could get away with it unlike the 70's and 80's when we'd regularly have running battles complete with police horses on the terraces, pitch invasions, etc. On one occasion a ginger bearded Hull nutter came out of their end, armed with an axe, and ran across the pitch towards our side ...
... sadly the police felled him before he could get to where the Peterlee lads were fighting with each other to be first to have a go at him
Hull are unpredictable having been beaten by top teams Norwich, Sheff Utd and Leeds but beating QPR, Stoke and Cardiff. Leeds and Sheff Utd play on Friday and a home win would probably keep us top but I'd prefer a draw which would make Sunday even more interesting.
