Well he looked feisty and fast for the u21s,, I know its only the U21s, but he wont be up to full speed yet, lets hope we can reverse the curse and he scores against Hull
I remember when he was 1st linked I was totally against it (think a few of us were) but i just feel the fit might be perfect both ways. He is the type of player I think our fans will love n he seems the type that will be buzzing to have this opportunity to play for us
Good, brave and honest interview, got a good feeling about this one, no better place to reignite his career than here
To have his qualities and desire in a team where we have 2 or 3 strikers already ( i know!!!) Can only be a good thing
It’s really positive the way he’s started his career here as far as I’m concerned. He could be a huge bonus for us this season and beyond.
Say it quietly, but we might have had an excellent window for signing strikers. One to hit the ground running (Isidor), one as a solid option (Connolly) and one as a late season wild card (Abdullahi). OK, window and a bit as AC was a free agent.
Just watched the interview. Good honest open interview. Takes a lot to admit your mistakes at times but hopefully he is over the problems he's had and ready to report ignite his career. Might just be a very shrewd bit of business. Good luck to him and I hope you score a bucket load of goals in the red & white.
I know a few lads who went to various after parties when he was at Boro and he used to be there when he had a game the following day. One of the parties was at one of the roughest estates in Boro.
Just watched that and was going to post it. Very brave of him to talk about his demons, hopefully his troubles are behind him and he is a success here with us
Heard he loved the gear and was in south bank most weekends.. Love that interview though at least he knows he’s got a lot to do and hopefully proves a point this season he’s got the talent
A few years ago it would we would have been the wrong place for him to sort himself out as we had our own problems but now we are a proper professional club
Spot on this. Glad we are given second/third chances to talented but troubled individuals. What a reputation to have when they get their **** together.
Good for Connolly to recognise where his problems have been, and address them off his own back. It doesnt sound like anyone was forcing him into rehab which is a good thing. Theres a load of 24 year olds out there who lack the insight to see there is a problem with their lifestyle, never mind doing something about it. He also seems to be a good lad - hopefully all the stories about him being a knacker are all down to the drink etc, and then he ends up doing well for both the club and himself. Looks like it could be another smart move by the club.
Exactly. What was the name of the lad we had under Reidy or possibly Keane who was also a prodigious talent but enjoyed partying more than playing? Sean someone?
That’s the lad. Never saw him play but from what I understand he was a bit of a talent but threw it all away
If I remember rightly he had dyed blonde hair, had a great first touch but seemed to lack heart and for some reason had no real spirit for the game. He was talented but did not seem to have thr right character for Sunderland.
Just had a look at his Wiki page. Left us for Doncaster then to Leyton Orient then off to the Welsh and Irish leagues. Last club was Moneymore FC in 2019. Really is a shame as he was living the dream most of us had as kids. At least now I think the players we have understand what it means to play for us. Or maybe I’m wrong and they’re like the rest and are just mercenaries and I’m too blind to see it.
Premier League talent with a Sunday League mentality. The amount of times I saw him pissed in the town back then was ridiculous.
