Goal music is a bad idea irrespective of what they play,
I've been to games where it's worked out.
Fleetwood's Captain Pugwash theme is naff, but Leicester's Kasabian one is pretty good. Bayern's White Stripes one is fantastic, but then, they have a huge ground with a huge crowd.
Like I said, I'm not bothered, but it won't work unless the ground is full and everybody is on board with it. You'd need fan consultation for starters, if they just randomly started doing it, it would be a disaster.
I wouldn't have a problem if maybe each player had a specific clip which was made part of the tannoy announcement.
If he scored he got his tune played for 30 seconds after the initial celebration as part of an announcement.
But I've yet to see a tune-led orchestration of what should in English football be spontaneous rapture, be anything but cringe.
Whoever is proposing this doesn't understand the culture of the club.
And how can you sing "mauled" with maximum irony when you have goal music?

An anthem of our own would be nice and it's fair enough the Housemartins usually get name checked. Not sure about caravan of love though. Was it that what we tried at kick off several years back off the back of the euro boat trip?

What about ‘ do I love you ‘ pre match post match , not all lines just the best ones together , and if we do god forbid have goal music it might work then - it would be ours .

It's funny, on this thread yesterday I was talking about the cultural difference between the UK and other countries and how maybe in this country we take ourselves more seriously at football and are reluctant to appear too exuberant or excitable unless things are particularly good, which maybe affects our ability to generate atmosphere like they do in other countries. And today on the QPR match thread there's a discussion about Mauled by the Tigers being too cringey and worrying about what it looks like to opposition fans. I think that's a good example of exactly what I was talking about.
Years ago other countries were the ones wishing their fans were like ours.I used to go to our Rotterdam office in the early 70s and they were jealous of the atmosphere in English grounds. Now Feyenoord puts our clubs to shame. Police and stewards in Hull would wet themselves faced with their lot.
I'd love us to have an away day at Red Star Belgrade or Rijeka one day. Think it would open a few eyes.
