The cost of the prison stays for those jailed in the riots is more than the cost of the damage done by them.
So shouldn’t they be jailed?

And, the people who have damaged it this time aren’t the ones jailed for the first time, so your point is irrelevant,

I don't regard throwing soup over a painting and violent, racist disorder as crimes that require the same punishment.

Throwing an egg at a policeman or setting fire to a bin should have longer sentences than these acts of vandalism then? Or reposting a tweet? What about the racist disorder that saw a man attacked and have his liver damaged? No one in court of jailed for that. Or was that OK as the aggressors weren’t white? How about those rioting and setting fire to buses and police cars in Harehills? Instead of rounding them up the police ran away. Two tier policing at its finest.

I can't answer all your questions because I don't know the details. Engaging in a violent riot is clearly on a different level to throwing soup over a painting - which is basically an expensive childish prank.

I don't think throwing soup over a painting warrants a prison sentence as then the tax payer pays twice. The offenders should pay for the repair, the cost of administering the prosecution/punishment and compensate for loss of income.

Ah, the old I don’t know all the details cop put. Funny how you know all the details about what happens in this country on things that suit you but other highly publicised events escape your notice.

Harris Ghaffar got twenty months for the attack on the Clumsy Swan pub, there’s no such thing as two tier policing.

You didn’t know all the details of the vandalism of the painting. You said it was a waste of time and money jailing them as they had come out and done it again when it was two different people and the original two are still inside. Still gave you ill informed twopennorth though. Yet you can’t answer points about other events as you don’t know all the details.<laugh>

'Childish Prank'?

Some people,art lovers in particular, would disagree.

It's not a childish prank,it's a calculated criminal offence carried out with no regard or respect for those who choose to visit gallery's to view such priceless works of art.It's disruptive and hateful!!

You're entirely correct in pointing out that the cost of their punishment would be met by the British Taxpayer but a fine would be crowdfunded by their like-minded buddy's...

Wouldn't be happening if they ran the risk of being birched,the ignorant,good for nothing cretins.

What can you possibly gain from incessantly arguing. I don't believe that there was point jailing stop oil protesters for throwing soup over a painting.

I don't know the context of setting fire to a bin or retweeting to give an opinion. If someone has set fire to a bin in their garden, no, they shouldn't be jailed. If they've set fire to a bin and pushed it into a crowd of police, then yes they should be jailed. If someone has retweeted an opinion on a film, no they shouldn't be jailed, if they've retweeted a call to physically harm asylum seekers, yes they should be jailed.

You are also incessantly arguing. You also obviously know what I was referring to. Though, as you don’t live here none of it is your concern. Maybe you should stop helping extract oil to make a good living then they would have nothing to protest about. Maybe they should protest by vandalising works of art, if there are any, in Norway, as they are responsible for more fossil fuel extraction than we are.
