It can't be disingenuous. It's statistical. It's just a measurement of what happened. You can claim that it's incomplete or that it's influenced by the factors that you mentioned, but it's factually correct. It's not a distortion. Raya wasted 9 minutes himself and didn't actually take that many goal kicks: Getting away with murder and pretending to be unfairly treated.
Yeah, I mean I'm not saying you're lying. The numbers are factual, but the way you've presented them is disingenuous. The level of opposition we've played, playing away from home and having numerical disadvantages in multiple games are quite clearly the reasons that explain the numbers you're seeing. Now, if after the games against Leicester, Southampton, Bournemouth, Everton and Palace, we are still seeing similar numbers, then calling him 'Paella Pulis' may have some weight behind it. But not after 5 games where we've played 3 of last season's top 5 teams. Didn't we also score 91 Premier League goals last season with mostly the same team? Hmm... Guess who's ranked top for average goal-kick delays? City. Guess Arteta must have learned from Pep. The ball was in play for 35 minutes in the second half. More than any other half this season. Confirmed by Opta. Raya may have took his time over GKs, but you'd expect that under the circumstances.
You're more defensive this season, even purely going from lineups. Four centre-halves and two holding midfielders, plus subbing on more centre-halves. You also scored a record number of goals from set-pieces last season, largely by fouling the keeper or blocking defenders. It's prime Pulis, just with much more expensive players. Nobody thinks that City are a clean team, so yeah, he probably did learn it from Guardiola. As for the ball being in play, that was because you never had it, while they passed it around endlessly You had two players play the whole game without passing it to a teammate.
We are more defensive because of the opposition we've played and the fact we've had 4/6 games away from home (including Europe) to start the season - all of which were very tough matches. Don't be fooled into thinking this is what Arsenal are going to do every game. We adapt our style and tactics depending on the type of game it is. To say it's 'prime Pulis with more expensive players' is incredibly disingenuous. We're capable of playing good football too, but I suspect you already know that and are too eager to take cheap swipes. So now you care about contextual factors surrounding statistics? . Not our fault City couldn't break down 10 men and they didn't like us playing them at their own game.
I'm going by what you've actually done. You're going from what you think you're going to do. Even in your home game against Wolves, you started three centre-halves and two holding midfielders. Then you subbed off your only fullback for another centre-half. I'm just pointing out that you timewasted as much you usual did, but it was limited by never having the ball. They did break down 10 men too, as I'm sure you can remember.
No, I'm basing it off a larger sample size based on how we've played over a period of time and what we did last season with most of the same players - our team hasn't changed that much from a few months ago. Three CBs? This is the 3rd year Ben White has been playing RB. He played CB for us for 1 season. Rice clearly hasn't been playing as a defensive midfielder for a host of games if you'd watched us play enough. If you honestly don't think the away fixtures, with the quality of opposition, and the 10 men in two games, hasn't been a contributing factor to the tactics we've employed, not sure what else to say to you. I'm just saying - you didn't seem to care much about the context around the numbers you brought up, but when I do it, now you seem to care about it. Yes, right at the death. Not particularly great to scrape a draw at home against 10 men when you have the supposed best manager and best players in the world though, is it?
You used the same set-up, system and tactics at home against Wolves and Brighton. Start with a bunch of centre-halves, rapist and Rice and bring on more defenders as the game goes on. Timewaste excessively, play for set-pieces and block like an American football team. I was just pointing out that Raya does this all the time and it doesn't change. He did it the same against City as he did against us, for example, he just had less opportunity. He should be booked on all of them. City will be very disappointed with the result and that's on Guardiola, in my opinion. Thankfully you bottled it, again.
We outplayed Wolves and Brighton too up until Rice got sent off. We even had chances to beat Brighton with 10 men. If that's how you want to characterise our style of play, by all means, you can do that. But I'd wager all the attacking, possession, goal scored, chances created etc stats you want to dish out will look very different after the next 5 games. I'd have taken a point before the game, and I'd have snapped your arm off for a result after Trossard's sending off. The circumstances were poor, but in the cold light of day, a draw at The Etihad is respectable. Do you not think City, the 4 time Champions, bottled it by not breaking down a 10-man Arsenal side up until the 98th minute?
You think you'll outplay Bolton, Southampton and Leicester? Wow. I wonder if Big Sam will be at the first one, looking to pass on some tips on his style of play? No, I think the ref bottled it by not correctly disallowing both of your goals.
You seem to be mistaking me for your own fanbase. You get away with murder, pick a rapist every week and still cry when it goes wrong. You're intentionally fouling teams to score goals and getting upset when people point it out. Crybullying at it's finest.
'Get away with murder' and 'intentionally fouling' is your subjective interpretation of incidents. Getting away with murder would be Vicario handling the ball outside his area to deny a goalscoring opportunity and getting away with it...
You don't think that your players are intentionally blocking off the opposition goalkeeper, like with your goal yesterday, then? please log in to view this image As for Vicario, he should've been booked. It's a clear yellow. Ref ****ed it up. Linesman can be forgiven because it's blindside, but the ref should've seen it.
Don’t like to stick up for the scum but what was wrong with the goals? 1st one was a great hit by Calafiori, even if he didn’t mean it 2nd one, Ederson should just run out and if he runs into an Arsenal player then that’s their problem if he hurts them, also Walker like Romero the week before did a poor job of marking Gabriel.
The first was due to Oliver calling over Walker as their captain, telling him to get his players to calm down and then allowing a quick restart. He didn't whistle, the ball was 10 yards from the foul and Walker was giving out the instruction that Oliver had given him, so he was miles out of position. The second was just two players running into the keeper and pinning him, preventing either him claiming or saving it. They do it on all of their corners. Overload the far post, have three players run into the six yard box, block off the defenders following the next group and get a free header. It's really obvious and they were supposed to be clamping down on it, but the refs don't notice and VAR won't overrule them.
Time wasting is time wasting mate... arteta went mental about toon doing a few yrs back yet uses it when it suits him. If he hadn't been so mouthy no one would have anything to say tbf
