As I said it’s football , ‘ they could have , we could have , we should have etc if a goalie saves is it poor shooting ? I do agree that we gave them three or four easy runs at our goal through the middle , if we are playing a holding midfielder shouldn’t he be there to slow these moves down ? Zambrano has got great touch and easy passing - for me he needs to be more athletic - I hope he will adjust in a few months
So so he said he changed Onur because he was injured not tactically smells like BS to me said we were lucky to have to make the change. Doesn’t wanna admit he got the team wrong not good But happy for the win..
Why are some claiming "Stoke are utter garbage" or whatever, yet they managed to beat Coventry and Plymouth, plus put 5 past Boro in the CC. Seemed like a pretty average mid table Championship side to me (with some wise nasty ****ers as usual). Hmmn, I wonder.
No, you're right, I hadn't realised Bedia got his head to the ball. So, either a mistake or they gave the pen for the first foul.
Give me Slater over Mehlem any day of the week. For me, Mehlem is no better than Greg Docherty and most posters on here seemed to agree that Doc is a good league 1 player
Leeds get three seasons of parachute money, so this will be their second. It goes down season after season.
I'm still not keen on the heart attack football playing out from the back, other teams seem able to do it without fullbacks sprinting along the backline and firing passes at 100 miles an hour. Before Tim came in people said there'd be goals at both ends but the issue is there was only goals going in at the wrong one. If we can actually start scoring regularly then great but if we still struggle then something needs to change at the back. Hopefully this is the start of something, but twt
Yeah I’m pretty much in agreement. Everyone’s been waxing lyrical about technical midfielders and whilst some have been good Slater and his energy gave us a different dynamic. He was hounding their defenders in the press. The second goal is all his doing even before Stoke gave the ball away and on the third goal he makes a real canny run that palmer could’ve spotted for a high quality chance as well.
First half was poor, second half was much better when Millar came on and immediately put them to the sword, although he unfortunately seems to often lack the end product. We clawed our way back into the game though, and while the penalty was fortunate, we dominated the game for the entire second half and deserved the win IMO. Stoke are also a bit of a bogey team for us lately, having taken 16pts from the last 7 games, and last seasons 2-0 loss at home was one of the worst performances of the season. I'm mildly optimistic now, but we need to build and beat Cardiff, but City rarely do the easy thing and beat the team that everyone else has given a kicking to. Let's hope we fix that. UTT
Just been on the Oatcake site...There's some classic comments on there. Ex City Jon Walters seem to be taking a few hefty blows to the family jewels...Its like a gathering of the depressed, the neurotic, the bio-polar and a schizophrenics tea party. Loads of them are already gearing up for a relegation scrap. A bit like ourselves if the truth be told.
A game of 2 halves, having said that both halves we were not out played, we just were much better 2nd half. Pandur did well again, he certainly has not put a foot wrong so far. Certainly Millar coming on changes things as did Slater, I agree with others Slater ahead of Mehlem for me, particularly in that forward midfield position. Simon's also did well when he came on. Jones had Cannon in his pocket all game, Macca had a good game, as did Coyle and Drameh. Palmer had a very good game, and,Zambrano was good again, Gibson should have been sent off for his forearm smash in the penalty area. Belloumi was good enough as was Bedia, his header for the penalty incident was a penalty in its self, as the defender pulled his shirt which put him off balance, but Belloumi did well to make sure keeping the ball alive and drawing another foul. Pleased for Walter to get his first win, and it will also breed some confidence into the squad. I cannot understand why he favoured Omur ahead of Millar at the start, as we always look better balanced with 2 wingers, and Omur is more effective centrally. If we can get 3 points against Cardiff things will start to look a lot better.
Yeah, within a few minutes of his debut he was moaning at his colleagues and gesturing in a way that hangs colleagues out to dry with the crowd. He’d only been in the building 5 minutes. Not necessary.
I distinctly remember Ashbee doing the same. Not saying he's an Ashbee. Actually, Philogene did similar when the service to him was poor. Make your point if others are not doing their job.
