Oh **** off. You were all fawning over Abdush 6 months ago. But quite obviously there's an issue with tangible contributions with Omur, Despite sometimes looking like the dogs bollocks.
The only thing I agreed with in the pre match pressers before that game was that football is a confidence game. Now let's give the lads some support at home, and let's hope we start Slater, Millar, and Palmer against Cardiff.
Yes I did pick up that sense from reading the flappy stuff on here. What I saw from, you know, the actual stadium was that the way TW wants to play is becoming stronger and more defined. We pushed them back for most of the first half, but still conceded horror chances on the break (think we just need to get used to that). And we failed to defend a corner (don’t want to get used to that, something to work on). At half time I reckoned the playing style is really starting to flow through the squad, but I wasn’t certain it was a style that could win games. Then in the second half we went more aggressive in attack, benefited from Millar’s directness, used Belloumi a bit more and got the rewards against a pretty average side with some decent threats in their midfield. And proved the style can win games. But yeah, sack the manager in the dressing room.
I’d have him over Mehlem. Omur turns on the ball and knits things together. Mehlem shows flashes of quality but has gone missing a lot recently.
I’m in Italy at the moment, so watched it on my phone and only caught up with this thread after the game, which made for pretty amusing reading.
Why should we have to get used to conceding horror chances? The style? We scored off a pen and an own goal, with slaters goal the only well worked one of the three.
But you have to be in the right place to create those opportunities. Last night they created more, were tougher to play against and wanted it more. A little positivity would not go amiss!
Ah come on syd That was a great win against a dirty nasty set of ****ers I’m not one for stats but according to the bbc we won more aerial duels than them!! Against Stoke!! The worlds a better place now we’ve won Enjoy
One thing that struck me from last night (and their managers comments on energy levels) is that our energy levels are higher than others we've played... last week the Sheff Utd players were literally blowing out of their arse having to do so much chasing...
Not sure on the rules now but when Bedia gets his head to it Baloumi is in an offside position, he then comes from this offside position to make the challenge, thereby interfering with play. But hey the rules change every season !
i actually still think the point stands but yeah, after a few beers I’m a bastard for over reacting. Mean well though promise…
Great to get a win on the board, happy for the players and Walter. Let’s not kid ourselves though, against most other teams in this league we’d have been dead and buried at half time. The game raises more questions about this system than it answers, but hopefully it’s a foundation to build on.
