Just seen that it was suicide. Horrible, just horrible. You just feel so helpless when someone does that, what a waste.

I have just read that the Bristol City Head Coach has had to take leave because of the death of his baby son. Death is always difficult to cope with but the anguish of losing a young child must be indescribable. RIP little fella and keep strong Dad - the rest of the family need you.

John Prescott. He managed to get to the top from the bottom without losing any of his principles. An inspiration to all of us who had the pleasure to meet him. If he has gone upstairs he is already signing the Angels up to a Trade Union. RIP

As you say Bure, George was an exceptional player whose international career was limited by the other talent in the squad. Shows how times have changed when you realise that he got a transfer from Newcastle because the Club house supplied and rented from the Club was not satisfactory for his family. Most of our Club houses were in Sprowston and the players used to drink in the Beehive in Cannerby Lane - one of many Pubs I used in those days. Charlie Crickmore was in there every night until Ron Saunders arrived. The first day back after Saunders arrived I can still readily recall Charlie limping in and saying - I won't be in any more lads - the bastard is going to f*cking well kills us - and we never saw him or any of the players ever again. How times have changed!!!George Eastham, a member of England's 1966 World Cup-winning squad, has died aged 88.
The Blackpool-born forward made 19 international appearances and, while he was part of manager Sir Alf Ramsey's squad at the World Cup 58 years ago, he did not play as England won it for the only time in their history.
He was also an unused squad member at the 1962 World Cup and went on to make his England debut in an FA Centenary match against Brazil at Wembley in 1963. His last appearance was in 2-0 friendly win over Denmark before the 1966 World Cup.
Only the 11 players that started the final against West Germany in 1966 were initially awarded winners' medals but, following a campaign, Eastham and other squad members - and Ramsey - received medals in 2009.
Saw him play a few times, exceptional player, and a man who pioneered for the players rights in the 60s
RIP George![]()
