Ac Milan cbs didn't even bother to get off the ground for a. Ball fired in right on the 6 yard area.

If vvd didn't jump and let someone have a free header he would not be excused by saying what a great leap what a star that attacker is. What a great coach he must have.

Now if you were talking about the quality of ball being delivered has improved then we could talk about something. (Floaty balloons or failing to beat the first man at times last year)

I don't mind so long as (a) we score at least one more than them and (b) it's a good goal from their perspective and not just a defensive **** up :)

Rare as hens teeth mate.

There's always an error.

We didn't attempt to block the shot v forest and I don't think alisson expected it to actually be on target either. It was thier one good strike, I gave forest credit for their game plan and the single bit of quality in the final third they had all game.

But we could have closed him down better.

Ac Milan goal was critiqued on here by others but as per if I opened my mouth about it I'd be called the usual stuff.
 
A couple of times now Slot's lack of rotation has come up with interviewers, as it did post this match. I'm wondering if that's the main reason for not much activity in the transfer market. Coupled with letting the youngsters go or go on loan, it's looking like he doesn't want to have a very big squad. Klopp didn't like having a massive squad either but the younger players were part of his overall tactical strategy. If Slot is banking on all players staying fit all season, I hope it works out that way. It seems very risky.

It’s also not really a fair comparison. Less games in Holland league and I’m not sure if they have 2 domestic cups plus how often he was competing in Europe as well. We are normally playing 50-60 games a season, it could be he only ever played in around 40 games and here for you don’t need to rotate as much.

I think he stated that during first 3 weeks was 1 game a week so was no real need to rotate for fitness and now 2 games a week has started will be more anyway

It does show his mindset though in that his preference is not to rotate. He will learn as he goes that the extra games and tougher league will almost certainly mean he has to rotate.

Depends. Arsenal didn’t rotate much last year. Depends how well you can keep squad fit and avoid injuries

I think he has a massive squad and an option everywhere.

I think it's early yet to talk rotation.

Yes it was a mistake v forest not to also something.

He rotated 2 players v Milan.

Let's see what he does v Bournemouth and how he treats the west ham league cup tie.

Really we have a massive amount of senior players.

But it's bradley, tsimikas, gakpo who are getting time as subs

He has qunasah, Gomez, Jones, Endo, chiesa, nunez to also use.

I just think we need to wait and see but I do feel certain players like macca have to blow up

Prefer to win. Can’t say have the medical Knowledge to know if someone needs to be rotated.

Rotation for the sake of rotation isn’t good though.

Having grown up in a time when teams hardly changed from one year to the next I think a settled team is best. However, with the number of games these days and the fact that players are pushed to the edge of their fitness I accept rotation is necessary. I'd keep it to the minimum required though, I wouldn't change for the sake of it. I'm particularly wary of wholesale changes - either from one match to the next, or in the case of multiple subs in a game.

I'm not in favour of rotation for the sake of it either.

Like you saint, I grew up with teams being the same starting 11 week in, week out and having no substitutes unless it was for an injury so tactical substitutions weren't a thing.

I think there's a balance to be had in terms of keeping players happy as well. There's always talk around which good players would want to sign just to sit on the bench. We've got a 'problem' at the moment specifically in regard to keeping all the forwards happy and motivated especially Nunez who won't get better if he doesn't get playing time and also in the back line, Gomez looks to be frozen out when previously all the CB's were being accommodated.

I prefer a string eleven with back up options but you need 3-4 of those back ups to be pushing the starters. This is the approach we had when we won the PL

I think rotation should be gradual.

I'm not a physio, but if six players need rotating every seven games... Don't wait until the seventh game to rotate all six of them at once.

So far we've not really done any rotation for our weekly games... Which is fine if no one needs a rest any time soon,. But eventually people will need rest, so one or two at a time max, is ideal
