A huge vote of confidence after that, outstanding mentality. Can’t wait for the weekend as we look right on it. Gakpo would be unlucky to miss out this weekend, class
Gakpo did well. It's not like Milan are not full of familiar names there but some of the stuff they were about was really poor and it allowed us to run rampant. If anything forest were a better side than thst albeit with less quality in thr final third to actually finish a break. Bournemouth imo will be a challenge again as they've compete ok this season amd got their draws if everton cam score 2 ill be very disappointed we cant score but the danger signs are there in their other results.
We made them look very ordinary by doing the right things, eg pressing with intent, being hungry in the 50/50’s, using the space and getting our heads up and making the right pass. Very different tests though and Slot isn’t going to make many friends if he keeps referencing how **** he thinks the lower half are
We got caught cold at the start but otherwise it was a professional performance. It's good to see us scoring from set pieces again because that's going to be vital against low blocks and the set pieces in prior games haven't really been anything to write home about.
apart from the first few mins and near the end ,when all the subs were happening , thought we controlled the game and were unlucky to not have got more .
Yeah. It's very difficult to compare these games. For example gakpo has looked good at times but not that good. He was destroying that guy like as if he was playing for Holland in the Euros. He's never been able to do that in the prem with the faster game speed and more physical approach. Then we did pin forest in quite a bit just like.milan but our passing was diabolical. Honestly I thought the player to compare was Szoboszlai who made some really poor play yesterday with passing still. He did the same v forest and got eaten up. I think bournemouth will try to go us like forest. With respect the very first thing oliver did was allow maccalister to be kicked in the chest punishment free and from that moment on it was a free for all to stop the game and kick him. He then booked Yates for time wasting or something after letting him stand on macca and slap him in the chops 3 times. It's mad how a set of circumstances can generate a results but oliver, forest approach, our attitude (arrogance) and the internationals all come together to make yet another lfc game where we could be there still a week later and not score. And again can you imagine no forest player even jumping for a header in their 6 yard box. I still say our corner routine is crap.
Yes should have been well out of sight ala Bayern and on other night in Europe we've has made scoreline.
I was hoping the loss to Forest would be the awakening for him. Seems he's not realised it's a very competitive league yet so suspect we'll see a few more "Forest results" yet
I thought they had a lot of names I recognised as ex-Chelsea players and then I thought, the more time goes on, there will be lots of teams with a good quota of ex-Chelsea players. Watching Abraham push Endo and Endo just standing his ground was hilarious.
https://www.thisisanfield.com/2024/...iece-coach-role-led-to-konate-van-dijk-goals/ Apparently as out head of player development briggs is not needed for that role (as we loaned out all the kids) he is doing set piece coaching. So we know ow who to blame for 100% inswingers
Just did their jobs. They want an attaboy now? So I'll ask this. If we conceded either of those would you be happy?
