The RFU has renamed Twickenham The Allianz Stadium as part of a lucrative sponsorship deal. It's absolute bollox.

It's a strange thing, this slapping on of corporate names.
On the one hand I think most fans ignore it. Newcastle's home stadium was never going to be called anything else except St. James' Park.
And the FA Cup will always be just that.

But when I think of Coventry City the name 'Ricoh Arena' comes to mind and always will I suppose.
    Like 'Reebok' for Bolton Wanderers.
Both of which sponsors are long gone so I understand.

It's a minor miracle that the Valley has never been given a soppy corporate name, despite the Club being owned by some right chancers.

I have no issues somebody putting money into the club to rename the ground.
It will always be The Valley.

I'm never going to be able to get used to cricketers being called "batters".
    You have batters in Baseball.
    Not Cricket.

If it's the men's team being referred to, why can they not be called batsmen?

If the women's team prefers 'batters' that's up to them.
Why could they not be called batswomen?

It's Political Correctness gone mad <doh>

I can cheerfully ignore most of it.
The cricket one just irks me though.
For well over 200 years cricketers were called batsmen. I can't believe anyone took offence in all that time.
    Now they're batters.

Did somebody seriously write a letter or an email to the ECB and claim they were offended?
Surely we still have very serious examples of misogyny and inequality to tackle in our society.
Changing the terminology in this case just seems pointless.

Why for instance is the person you are supposed to complain to about stuff still called an Onbudsman?
    Why aren't they an Onbudser?
    Let's have some consistency!

From now on I suppose I must be known as Lardier <laugh>
Not appropriate really, as I am still of the male gender, and have lost about 30Kg in the last few months...

I was quite pleased with it.
Did it mainly to get the type 2 diabetes lot off my back, and it wasn't easy. But guess what - it's not good enough for them.
This is still to high and that's still too high... going in for another lecture about it tomorrow morning.

I know they mean well, but there's no pleasing some people :emoticon-0163-pizza

AJ's long-teetering house of cards, his circus of smoke and mirrors, has finally collapsed.
He did all the talking, all the slick PR and showbiz :emoticon-0146-punch

Daniel Dubois just did the Boxing :emoticon-0165-muscl
I heard people mocking Dubois on the radio over the last few days, because he didn't speak as well as Joshua during interviews.

After that performance it is the end of the road for Joshua. I don't see where he goes from here.

Several times before the fight it was claimed that 'everyone' in Boxing wanted to see Joshua win, so he could progress towards a showdown against Fury or Usyk.
What they really meant was they wanted to see Joshua win because they judged him to be bigger 'box office' than Dubois.
And they could get their snouts in the trough of many more £millions flogging it to punters around the World.

Why couldn't these pundits and commentators say they wanted to see the best fighter win?
The man who proved that he deserved it?

Heavyweight Boxing is now 99% showbiz greed and only 1% sport.
Next they'll be bigging up Joshua again, telling us he wasn't right on the night for some spurious reason.
And trying to persuade people to choke up more money for a bore-fest 're-match' with Dubois.
