We won't play like that for a month. We'll gradually get better as each week passes now as new players settle in, get up to speed, become available, get to know each other and what Walter expects of them, etc etc. And we've just played Leeds and Sheffield U. It was always going to take time. Can't believe the fanny comments on here tonight. Bit of realism needed.
His system is based on the back 5 moving the ball around until they can beat the press and launch an attack. We've had the same back 5 in every game, bar Jacob for Giles in the first. There's been no discernible improvement so far, so I'm not sure I have confidence it'll 'gradually get better'.

We moved the ball really well in the second half and had Millar and Belloumi/Omur/Coyle in excellent advanced positions. The quality from this point was the issue.

We're sorely lacking in the simplistic art of basic football. You just can't all pour forward and leave a 1 v 3 situation when you lose the ball,I've never seen anything so reckless and stupid in 55 years of watching Hull City.

I think he'll give Tim Walter some more time but if it continues like this he'll have no option but to bag him.He brought him in and ultimately he deals with it or runs the risk of fans deserting in their droves..

Poor night to be a City fan.

It comes to something when “reckless and stupid” seems like a restrained and level headed way to describe our defensive set up. That’s how bad it is.

Difficult to disagree

It was poor before the break, it seems just as poor after it with a diffetent bunch of players to choose from. Doesn't bode well for TW.

It’s not the time to panic yet but it’s hard not to be worried playing a high line as we do defensively. Tim could eventually get this right of course and obviously that’s what supporters want because like Roseinor before him City pass it around nicely but this time we lack cohesion and don’t have anyone who can cause the opposition real problems. Right now we are a side overplaying it at the back without a real ball winner in midfield and very little quality up front. One thing on Tim’s side is time but The Big Turk won’t **** around if this suicidal stuff continues and we don’t start scoring goals. I actually thought if we’d equalised we’d go on and win tonight but as predicted they knew how to beat us and in the end exploited our game plan which quite frankly will quickly become common knowledge if Tim’s not careful.

Toast is right.... it wasn't the attack per se that was the problem tonight, though thats a different issue... it was the back 5...

Coyle the best of the back 4 but not his usual standard tonight...
Jones lauded by many not the same player without Greaves
McLoughlin one foot perpetually gets him in trouble... he must have passed to Pandur 50 times...
Giles... sulking, cant beat the first player waste of money..
Burns... how the **** does he start in front of Zambrano , you can see why he was lined at Stevenage...

Mehlem scores we get a result BTW...

That was a true Friday the 13th horror show.....Sorry, but I'm going to upset the 'negative police'. My upbeat assessment that things would improve was vastly overblown.
We looked rudderless...2 words.....5 syllables.... Rel-e-gation fod-der....
If Walt is still here in mid November I'll be surprised. I wouldn't mind if the Blunts were any good, but they looked bang average.

It was ****.

Tim is ****

Tim has failed to project his style of play.

His teams have been consistent but play every game like they’ve never met each other.

We’ve bought some decent players. Palmer looks like he could make a difference, but not with the clown in charge.

**** him off ASAP. What’s the point of hanging on for more clueless ****?

It was our corner. I’d expect most of our players in or around their box. I would, however, expect we had sufficient cover for any counter attack.

Even chasing a goal with 5 minutes to go in a cup game any manager worth his salt would leave a man back.

We were 0-0 on 15 minutes and had nobody back. Then the same again not long after, where if Moore’s leg was an inch longer, we’d have been caught 3 on 1 again. Then when it feels like we’re getting ourselves back into the game, on 66 minutes, nobody back again, and the game is put to bed.

Not a single man back. Nobody. Just a wide open pitch for them to run into freely.

They didn't need to be.

Stay compact, hit us on the break and let us play ourselves into mistakes.

A league 2 side would have had us tonight

Our decision-making and final ball is absolutely ****ing dreadful.

Maybe Walter isn’t the right man for the job. Maybe he is out of his depth. That being said, he’s not at fault because Belloumi lost the ball when he was the last outfield player, Mehlem doesn’t know when to pass in a 4v3 counter-attack, Bedia couldn’t finish a sentence and Millar doesn’t know how to shield a ball out of play properly.

Crap final ball, crap finishing and avoidable individual errors cost us tonight. We could’ve and should’ve scored a couple.

We didn't get totally schooled and not even look like winning 6 games on the trot though.

Walter has a big month ahead of him.
Feel like I've seen that game every time we play Sheff U in the same division. Always the same. I get the point about the 6 games but people are talking like we were playing last year's Rotherham tonight

I think it was more that as the ball broke down, those players pushed forward didn’t make the effort to recover.

Their first header they won was very lucky as he wasn’t even looking at the ball. It broke perfectly for them but we should have had more players looking to recover just in case.
