Just doing some digging on Kari and I think he's a central player. The system RLB used last season played with 2 10s behind the striker, not really wide players.

Admittedly, I just watched a you tube highlight reel, but he doesn't look anything like a winger, definitely a CM imo. Might have player right side of a 3 at Lorient.
Presumably this would just be a loan and not a perm. Maybe there's a hitch in the Samed deal or perhaps this is just RLB's preferred option. He seems to be very highly rated.

Must just want him to sit on the bench. They were linked with Joan Garcia from Espanyol, not sure if anything developed on that front, he's 23 so not quite the same as Neto.
Could he maybe play in the same role rigg does, right sided and becoming the second striker out of possession like Rigg has been when they have the ball at the back

Not at all. More of a robust, ball carrying midfielder.
