Teesside said owt? Still the worst striker you've ever seen play for us?

Proper teenage girl reaction that. Pleased he scored a couple and showed up this kind of utter dramatic pish for what it is.

It's a strange phenomenon especially when players like Amad, Hume, etc were also written off after a handful of games ...

... you'd think we'd, at least, learn to hang fire and give them a decent chance to settle in.

Sunday had eleven players, on the pitch, who played extremely well.

They were pretty much overshadowed but the centre backs did their jobs again and kept a clean sheet ...

... Alese was initially written off by quite a few and O'Nien's been declared useless more times than a drunken busker.

Can add Roberts, Jobe and Pele* to that list…

Alese is going to be a very very good player imo, I really rate him. I think he could have a higher ceiling than Ballard at centre half.

Its not even new either. Remember Kirchhoff being written off after his first game. God there was even someone writing off JD after a couple of games of his first spell!

Staggering.

That's funny mate, I'd written his name then replaced him with Hume to keep it topical.

I was at the match when he was thrown on as a sub in a game we were losing ...

... not only that he was played out of position.

I remember the match as West Ham, but could've been Arsenal.

As we came out someone said '"He'll never make a footballer while I've got a hole in me arse." <doh>

Generally the mark of the clueless for me that.

There was a longstanding thread over the road about the signing of Defoe and how it was a bad bit of business. In fairness it was quite funny in parts.

aye, his first appearance was dire though, i felt sorry for the lad more than anything mainly cos i was thinking it will take a season of top performances for some of our crowd to forgive him but the lad turned it round fast...not an easy thing to do.
