I read that as "I wanted a big paycheck and to spend all that money I earn in London" Cause the rest of it Bullcrap. Bigger picture . Just buying players and sacking managers until it randomly clicks.
How do you think you develop players if you don't give them some time in cup games or the occasional 10 minutes coming off the bench? I'm in favour of developing young players in this way, It seems you're not. None of it is about Danns displacing Jota when he's not as good as him. It's about seeing the bigger picture and developing when the opportunities present themselves. Were you incredulous when Klopp played the youngsters in the cup games or every time one of the young players was on the bench?
This summer, Liverpool have sold forward Fabio Carvalho to Brentford in a deal worth £27.5m, while defender Joel Matip, midfielder Thiago Alcantara and keeper Adrian have left the club. Slot was asked if not adding to the squad would make a team weaker but he rejected the suggestion. "If you don’t strengthen the team you get weaker, that’s a bit weird," he said. "Normally, you either stay the same and I truly believe on the training ground that you can help players and the team to improve.” sorry, but he must be oblivious to how Fabinho and Henderson sort of fell apart in our midfield. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/czx61n6drn6o We have Endo as our No.6, unfortunately we need someone one better than him.
Not at all, but I think a loan and playing 30 games in champ is better development than 10 mins sub in dead rubbers 5 times a season. Nope, he played them out of necessarily. Let’s not kid ourselves, other than TAA and Quansah, the rest of the best 11 under klopp were all signed for big money. There seems to be some myth that klopp built a home grown starting 11 full of academy greats and slots come in and ripped it all up. Bradkey, Quansah have cone through in last year (fyi both spent a year on loan before getting into first team). Before that, TAA and jones. Otherwise I don’t think klopp brought anyone else through to first team from the academy?
There isn't one sentence in there that answers anything I said. Not like you to be so condescending either.
You said how do you develop players if don’t give them occasional 10 minutes. I said, give them loans where they play 30 games a season like Quansah and Bradley? You asked if I was incredulous when klopp had youngsters on the bench. I said no. thats 2 questions you asked and 2 answers I gave?
Anyway time to move on. some aren’t sure on slot and think he’s moving on our best young players. some are willing to give him time and think that we’ve sold 1 player and it’s a wait and see how the rest of the players develop. Neither changing their minds so agree to disagree
tbh i would much prefer they were concentrating on a) deep mf playmaker b) RW understudy c) getting the contract situations sorted d) CB e) LB
Nobody's claimed that Klopp made a starting 11 of academy players. Don't be so dramatic It is time to move on, you're right. Oh ... Kelleher and Neco Williams.
Ahem. Kelleher. First off football is a squad game. Second this depends on how you define the grand strategy. For me this strategy involved buying youths into the academy and bring them through. Yes some have come through loans, some didn't need a loan. Kelleher 47 games. Bradley 23 games quansah 33 games Chambers 4 games plus 30 on loan Trent 310 games elliott 119 games jones 133 games Doak 10 games McConnell, Clark, Gordon all under development. The other younger u18s then turned up in the league cup. Others auch as Woodburn, Clarkson and such came and went without cracking the loan route. Jaros hasn't even got a competitive game for us ever but has 90 pro games and 3 senior medals including a league and two cups. Again the grand strategy generates a reserve keep for the squad. Joe gomez isn't a klopp signing and wasn't given his debut but got an acl injury and was out. Klopp backed him and trent to share rb slot rather than going and buying a Clyne replacement. So again giving players time and patience means klopps squad had a lot of home grown options to mix with the signings you point to. Not only that but his European squad was really reinforced by young players who were at the club for.mpre than 2 years and given time. What are we now doing? so far we've done the following. kelleher for sale, no takers at our price Loaned chambers again (rightly) loaned scanlon (we will see if right, no youth cover at lb) loaned stephenson (no issue here) Sold carvalho (third choice) Selling clark trying to sell doak loaned gordon (soon to have no youth rw option) Loaned koumas at 18. Prob seem as left side forward not suited to slot tried to loan danns at 18. Trying to loan mcConnell Selling morton trying to loan davies As I've said I feel slot is going to get a shock at the intensity of the prem and ucl and the cups on top. I feel Hughes hasn't a clue about the intensity of 2 games a week. There's a fair chance of the usual types of injuries as we plough through 2 games a week and will look extremely short of bench options The point being our squad this season will
I mean, it's true. Players hit an age where their performance starts to decline. We've got two or three players like that... Salah, & VVD come to mind... And we may have problems because of that... But I think most of our squad isn't at that stage yet, and many are still young and improving. I don't think we're as bad as the last year of Hendo when half the team were getting old... I don't think we're going to collapse because of this... ... But not getting any signings when we clearly could do with a couple is definitely far from ideal and can't be described as anything other than disappointing
In the end most of the squad doesn't mean the real top players. Vvd, salah, Robertson. All in some form of decline no matter what they do themselves. They can stretch it out like a lot of great players have but thry have to do thst. Alisson. Plateaued. But what a plateau. Endo never good enough, klopp mentioned miles in clock but when you sre not big eno8gh nor fast enough no amount of coaching is going to improve thst. Jota. In his prime but can't stay fit. Slot can help this. Diaz. In form of his life already for Colombia. Not going to improve more but could still shock everyone and slot will get credit. Gakpo. Needs slot to help him big time. Nunez. Badly needs someone to get a hold of him.and play to his strengths. Szobo. Again the same. Never a defensive player. If slot improves this guy and plays him right this is a superstar. Trent. Just get him to play rb and work the system. Yes there's lot of players who's performances can get better but also lots thst need to be prepared for exit.
Who knows. But it's another hg number off the books and he's been rumoured 3 times now this summer Lose Joe and thats cover right across the back line gone and lb looks extremely short given the constant injuries we have experience there last year. This feels like an ffp issue which makes nonsense given we have massive scope last year. Anyway match ahead first.
