I don't know. I think he will be scratching round for.subs at some point this season. In isolation all the loans make sense. Put together we will be light at LB for sure
What happens if any of those 22 players get injured or suspended? Think how bad our injury crisis was around the carabo cup final.
Well you need 11 plus 5 subs so that’s 16 players. Plus 3 more on bench is 19. So still have 3 extra in that list that aren’t even needed on the match day so you’re looking at what 8/9 injuries before you get down to having to rely on under 21s to be part of squad that might actually be needed on the pitch. If we get to that stage, then I’ll admit that we should have kept hold of Clark
I’m not talking about 25 man rules? Im talking about first team squad. You can’t play cup games and come on as a sub if you’re not in the match day squad so your suggestion implies that those players are good enough to be in the match day squads. I disagree because we have at least 22 first team players ahead of them
So you think 22 players will be enough players to cope with 2 games a week until at least christmas. Surely you have to see our squad is a little light at the moment that may change by the end of the window but its not looking that likely at the moment.
They don't have to be in the first team squad. That's the point. If we are down to bare bones, the U21's can be played at any time.
No ideally I’d like another defender who could maybe cover cb/lb, another deep midfielder to go alongside Mac and someone that can cover RW. That doesn’t mean if we kept Clark doak and chambers to cover those areas would be sufficient though.
But to be played they have to be in the MATCH DAY squad. To be in that squad they’d have to be ahead of the current 22/23 first team players. So who are you constantly leaving out of the 20 man match day squad to include the youth players so they are getting regular game time as subs?
Are you just bypassing injuries and suspensions. And ... they don't have to be ahead of anyone to be in the MATCH DAY squad. Where did I say some players good enough to be subs was 'regular game time as subs'? I get we are on opposite sides of this argument but you can't just make stuff up.
slightly off topic saw this earlier from Lavia do wonder what goes through there heads sometimes please log in to view this image “You’ve never had my version. It’s all about what you read in the media. I had to read a couple as well and sometimes you knew more than me apparently (he laughs). Listen, when I heard about Chelsea and it was from a long time ago before everything started, it was a no-brainer. Some stuff I was reading, I’m not going to say it was fake but my decision was Chelsea. The interest from Liverpool was there but, in my head, I wanted to play for Chelsea. please log in to view this image “If you look at the teams, Chelsea is the one that is growing. Even though the results are not going like the other teams, you can see the bigger picture. When I saw a group of young and talented players that at their previous clubs had been the best players, it can only go well. Now I’m here, I realise it’s true. We are building something amazing. Everyone at the club can feel it, not just the players.” Via The Athletic.
I suppose he is right in one way Chelsea are growing isnt there squad something stupid like 45 players at the moment and still linked with more players. But I dont think that was the context he was going for. Can understand the players going there for these stupidly long contracts for a bit of security but surely they can't believe buying lots and lots of players is building something amazing.
Maybe he thinks the more he talks them up, the more chance he has of being selected to play ahead of others.
think he already is the choice to partner Caicedo in CM but who knows what new signings they make before the window shuts
Well they have to be ahead of someone as you can only have 20 in the match day squad (11 starts and 9 subs) so given we have about 22/23 first team players at the moment, they’d have to be ahead of 4/5 of those to just get into the squad. And I don’t see chambers, doak, Gordon, McConnell doing that.
