I do think Rusyn would benefit from being in a two man strikeforce, but as previously said, we ain't gonna play that. I know it's low expectations, but I was impressed with Hemir's cameo, he ran all over. Looked ****ed pretty quick though. He screams of someone like Berbatov or Ibrahimovic, though I doubt he's gonna ever be that talented. I think most of the lads yesterday suffered from the fact they were playing with other lads who were a bit crap, defence was obviously desperate. Hopefully Johnson can get a good loan somewhere, I'd heard there was interest in league 1, but either there or league 2 would be good. Does Hjelde need a loan? Does Triantis? They've really hamstrung this squad with so many uncertainties. I don't think we need a squad full of good players, finished articles...we can use some of these lads sporadically. We are out of one cup after all. But there is so many questions, I doubt Speakman and co have all the answers
Well I've slept on it before giving my two peneth. When I saw the teams I didn't give us much of a chance so wasn't disappointed with the result. In fact for a defeat I quite enjoyed large parts of the game. The defence was always going to be a problem with 4 centre halfs but I thought Johnson and Triantis played well, less so Anderson and Hjelde. Ekwah in midfield impressed me for a first game back, Adil was Adil, good and frustrating in equal measure. Rigg had a decent game and was missed when he went off. Ba and Mundle both had moments but also lapses. Tracking back being the major point for me. Mundle had a couple of opportunities where he had done the hard part and drawn 3 players too him and had a simple ball he could have played to someone in a better position but decided to try and do it all himself. Hopefully that will improve with age and experience. Felt a bit sorry for Rusyn, put the effort in, made a couple of good runs but wasn't picked out. As I said earlier as far as defeats go I've seen far worse. As in all games there are plusses and minuses, we at least tried to play our football right through the game but obviously as the game went on the bigger, stronger more experienced side took more control. RLB will have learned quite a bit and probably won't be too upset about being knocked out. Preston did us the honour of treating it as a serious game and will probably be relieved about the result. They definitely treated it as a serious game even down to game management and time wasting. A useful exercise. I know lots of people won't agree, we all have our own views, thankfully, and unfortunately I won't be able to debate today as I'm taking my young lady out. Its certainly not the end of the world. Have a good day all. Ooop forgot to mention Moore, steady and a decent back up.
This has been said hundreds of times and I'm sorry for repeating it. The lack of action to get us a striker in, is incompetent and a massive misjudgement. The frustration with this will be there to be seen on Sunday if we struggle. I believe speakman thinks all is well but we really should have moved on from Mendy weeks ago.
I'm quite a laid back person but the last 4 months of our season nearly made me pack my season tickets in. I've had one since 1989 and as a whole, the club gave up. So I have every right to be judgemental. It's a piss take that they let things drag on and on.
Ok. You know we won our 1st league game yeah? So striker or not, we won. This reaction is clearly a knee jerk to our reserves losing last night
Not at all. I'm aware that we won against Cardiff and I know that there's 45 games to go. To say it's a kneejerk reaction to a reserve side getting beat is daft. We have had 18 months of messing about trying to get someone in but it seems to beyond Speakmans capabilities to do so. Hopefully we see some movement over the next few days.
You’ve had a season ticket since 1989 and the last 4 months is what made you nearly give it up? I’m not sure it’s in the bottom ten of seasons in that time.
People keep saying that but the truth is even worse. We worked hard to get 4 strikers in last summer. Spent money on 3 of them. It's not like they've done nothing
I've always enjoyed going to the games, win, lose or draw but last season was hard. If it wasn't for my bairns having season tickets I think I would have gone sooner. My 2 lads go with their mates now (which is how it should be) and my daughter will be going to Uni next year.
Speakman will know better than anyone he has to get a striker in How do you know we should have moved on from him? We have no idea what is happening with that deal n how close/far away it is If 'fans' turn against the team on Sunday that says more about them than it does our recruitment Its the 1st home game of the season so we need to get bheind the team no matter what, we won our 1st game so theres positive signs there
Its gambling on 3 unproven players, without having a experienced striker at the club they can learn off. It's like groundhog day for them.
This is it. People seem to think we signed those 4 by accident or due to ineptitude. It was a clear decision by the club to go with youth. It failed, they recognise that and are taking steps to rectify it.
The main issue is that the strikers we bought all came in to complement and support a main option in one way or another. This was by design as we were still trying to retain Stewart at the time. Alongside their overall performance since, it means that all three are still waiting for that ‘main’ option to come in.
