Snap. Makes very little sense other than Premier League know-how. But then we might as well get Shearer back for that.
Think there’s a rule about loaning out a player you sign in the same window so don’t think it’s possible I might be wrong on the rule though
Yeah it’s not possible They are: - Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time. - The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time. - Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window. - A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.
Wet Spam signing players like they’re going out of fashion-will JWP fall foul of being to English for a foreign manager…? If we’re assembling ex players…. Should we ever go back…?
Emerson Royal off to AC Milan, so could see some movement on KWP to Spurs. Does he have a buyback clause or did I make that up/it’s expired? He may not want to go as well as he will definitely be backup to Porro rather than a starter you’d think
I still think another DM is our biggest priority. if Flynn gets injured, we have no cover. We'll get thrashed every game.
If we don’t get a striker we are going to struggle to score, if we don’t get a keeper more comfortable with the ball we are going to concede loads, and if Downes is injured we are going to get over run I’d say all three are essential really
Striker & GK bigger for me. We lack a quality starting ST & GK, whereas we lack a back up DM. Plus JWP isnt really a true DM
Nah. Need a striker and a keeper a lot more right now. Can't think about cover while we're so weak at both ends of the pitch.
Nearly everyone says goalkeeper. We are all not 'football people' who have been in the 'game' our whole lives, yet we can see it. Are the club just keeping quiet or do they really have a huge blindspot on goalies and think if they can sometimes stop the occasional shot but can ping a pass fifty yards up the pitch that is what is required in the Premier League, where some of the best goalies in football concede quite a few? It is frustrating.
They’re preserving with Baz despite all the evidence suggesting he’s not a great goalkeeper, so probably this.
If we can get O'Riley and a striker, then I think we can loan in a GK and a wide player, potentially. Or we might be able to get a GK on the cheap (Johnstone if we haggle down slightly from £10m?) and Fraser for free after his pay off
Interesting to read the FFP musings and comments... ...to flip it on its head a little... If, as I expect to happen, we sell the players we want out/who want out for about three quarters of what we'd initially hoped and then we use that money to bring in one player of first team quality, ne squad player and two high value loans...given the age of the squad, the players we've bought in and the style of football then I think we'd be setting ourselves up brilliantly financially on and off the pitch for the next 3 years or so. Of course that might mean relegation this year and having to start again from the championship but with the way the cycles work and the profile of our squad I can see why this summer's prudency is both needed and should work for us in the long term, regardless. Promotion last season was SO important. I need to take off these rose tinted glasses, don't I?
