Wonder if we actually were in for Buonanotte and Veliz and they chose to go elsewhere

Keeps the 2 loans free at least and looks like we are definitely trying to utilise them

None of this should come as a massive surprise, though. We can't just carry Tall Paul, ABK, Sulemana, Mara and expect to splash the cash elsewhere.

That's how things can go badly wrong.

I still think we'll be much improved by the end of August.
I think most thought at least the first two would be gone especially with Paul’s scoring exploits on loan

I am surprised there hasn't been more interest in Tall Paul from the rest of Europe and not just Turkey. I assume we want something in the region of £10-15m which seems pretty reasonable to me for someone who has a good track record of scoring goals.

Yeah, I agree that we seemingly want is reasonable. I'm guessing the issue is that any potential buyer knows that we want rid. And as get closer to 31 August, if we haven't managed to shift others, then our desperation to get rid increases. So they can use to try and force the price down.

I appreciate we've made some noises about being open to keeping him and using him, if no-one matches our valuation. But of course we would say that. It's difficult to believe there is much truth in that. No doubt buyers realise that.

Plus the leagues he has been good in don’t have much money. £10-15m is a lot for clubs in those leagues for a player with likely no sell on value.

Blackmore made a good point that the Dutch league could be a good fit as teams there can get good fees for their players so might be more willing to spend closer to our valuation on Onuachu who would probably score goals in the Eredivisie

I assume wages are probably an issue with him (and probably Sulemana as well if we are trying to get rid of him). Based on when they joined I assume they got big wages out of us, especially Sulemana who had multiple other teams after him at the time

After Trabzon failed to progress in the Champions League qualifiers (which TP fired them into) their offer has gone down. Maybe if the coughed a little more before, they could have made it.

Depending on what Tall Paul's wages are i wouldn't mind if he stayed, chucking him on in the last 10 minutes of desperate hoofball when everything else hasn't worked might be an advantage. Re Mara; he did well against Lazio I would have voted for him on the saints propaganda App if it wasn't for Charly showing real passion for the team

I am all for this. The amount of times last season we made a great run down the flanks and tried to cross to fraser, che or Armstrong only to see a defender header it away. It gives us a different option. Also if we are leading a game and need to control it and play punt ball would much rather him and a fast player alongside him.

We could use him in the cup. I have no interest in cups this year, I don’t know what SR/Martins approach will be.
