It's horrible mate, good people on both sides caught up, I hope people see sense and stay safe.

It's my kids, your kids everyone's kids I worry for

Im scared for my lads i really am. I kissed them goodnight last night holding teddys and 10 mile down the road there was a lad arrested the day before the same age for setting fire to a Police car. Its all fecked up

It's a mess mate, so much hate stirred up and for what?

I fear for the kids caught up in this

Sounded like it?
Maybe I didn’t explain clearly or misinterpreted. I’ve done a lot of work in 2 of those towns for exactly the reasons you described, with a number of communities. Tensions are high. I was responding to a post worrying that people may lose their lives and saying I worry it might be one of them. Trust me I know the harm and aftermath of that horrible affair better than most.

This is the new norm now i fear mate

I honestly don't think so mate.

There's 60 million souls in the UK and most are like me and you ...

... just working people trying to live a happy life and get on together.

A few thousand louts, who'll soon scurry off back home when their mates start to be sent down, won't get their way imo.

Once the football season starts decent people won't take kindly to their days disrupted by scruffy drunken idiots.

That's my opinion, I hope I'm right.

Starting a fire at a building housing immigrant is one way to spend ya life behind bars.

Anyone out in the streets tonight is guilty by association for me.

I hope your right too mate. Your a top bloke you mate, and youve been a big inspiration to me over the years aswell as giving me a few wake up calls. I respect you lots as a man and a human being.

Im sorry for being soppy but im actually quite emotional tonight. I dropped my lads off at 4pm after spending 4 days with them and i decided to pop down. I regret it now

There’ll be a few hundred on court orders with home restrictions or remands this week and some likely police dispersement orders meaning the streets may well be quiet for a fortnight in my experience. Others will be panicking when they hear the post come through the door. Might get some pop ups elsewhere but I think it’ll go calm. Social workers, court, probation/youth justice and other council officials will be snowed under.

Na, 'someone' is merely highlighting the ridiculousness of a grandiose statement that covering your face should be considered a criminal act, given the fact we were all recently forced to cover our faces for a significant period of time.
No one was required to cover their faces FFS, just their mouths.

I am not sure which way it goes. Could switch people's focus and get back to business as usual or it could be a petrol bomb with more boozed up rage. No idea which way it swings.

I can't see it calming down, the genie is out of the box and it's not going to be pretty

Over the years I've seen much worse riots and things always looked like the end of the world ...

... but that level of adrenalin and rage can't be sustained and people go back to their lives, however reluctantly.

This thread will slow then fade away, then there'll be another story that takes over, c'est la vie imo.

So, tensions are high in Rochdale for fear of reprisals over the last couple of days?
What about the decades of child abuse by “gentlemen” of a certain ilk. I’m not condoning anything that may come of this, but haven’t they got the right to be offended, especially when authorities are to afraid to speak out for being branded racist?
What about the drugs gangs that were locked up?
What about the aftermath the folk of Rochdale have had to deal with?
I’ve read a few of your posts, always looking for the good in folk, or they’re hard done to.
It’s not always the case, is it?

Thing is, ambulance staff like many others won’t put themselves in harms way and quite rightly so.
