I have been of the opinion all would be ok... really not sure now... clubs will be holding us to ransom based upon whats happening with people deciding to ge elsewhere and reading of where we're at squad wise...

High time Tan and Acun came out and said something and something positive....

Do we need players? Absolutely. But by upping to what Coventry bid we run the risk of not being able to sign a higher quality squad player down the line. WBA ITK has already said they’ve offered a better financial package for them.

Providing the board lower expectations I’m not fussed on missing out on players that we refuse to overpay for.

It's not about overspending, it's about the general way we're handling things at the moment.

Why are we only now bidding for players, we knew we needed a massive rebuild, why are we so far into pre-season without signings?

We sold Greaves and Philogene weeks ago, we've got the most decimated squad in the league, what are we ****ing about at?

As long as its not another Q&A. We can't be annoying any more of the players and forcing them to leave

This thing of being gazumped to players. Seems to have been a real concern at the club for a long time - there's always talk of keeping targets quiet in case other clubs are alerted. Now it's happened twice this summer. It doesn't seem to be that common outside of us, why is that? Why can't we be the ones stealing other clubs targets from under their noses?

Where is the evidence we will sign "a higher quality" player down the line? I'm getting the impression players don't want to come here. Season starts in 10 days and we are nowhere near ready. I can see a relegation fight this season unless things take a quick upturn in terms of recruitment

But, if we get gazumped it’s two choices - either:

Wanting us to pay more to stand a chance of making the signing

Or

Leaving it.

In the case of Keiffer Moore and Assante, personally, I’m glad we left it.

Perhaps, with other players, I’ll have a different feeling.

It's not just the gazumping though. Things obviously are going very badly with the brains and recruitment teams. There is absolutely no way the club would have intended to have had only 3 new faces in by now (Drameh + the 2 gazumpees). Something(s) failing badly atm. Maybe naivety, like earlier thinking we could secure 2 or more of our loanees, and / or maybe simply incompetence and or Tim being unrealistic? Don't know what it is but something's wrong. 20 out with 1 new face in with 9 days to go beggars belief

Yeh – the planning has been piss poor. I had said that twice in this thread today.

Why it has been so poor – dunno.

I don't think the raw numbers in vs out are as damning as the state of the squad we have, which at this point is realistically more or less the squad which will start the season.

We've got last season's third and seventh choice keepers - our 1st and 2nd choices have gone to lesser sides. We've got a decent back four, but we're relying on young Simons in midfield and we can't field our left back at left back because we need him to play on the wing (where he looks totally out of place and ineffective). Longman and Giles being our best wingers is a ridiculous state of affairs.
