And some will praise him for the good things while criticising him for the bad ...

... some people, on here, can multitask and don't see everything as either brilliant or shyte.

Would much prefer this over spending a transfer fee on a 30yr old, hopefully true

Who said I was talking about people on the board. I meant in general it’s not good enough if it doesn’t happen and we shouldn’t be making excuses for him if it doesn’t happen. But people will and it’s just not good enough

I see the feel good factor didn't last long. Why is everyone feeling down this morning?

We've literally got a striker, in Mendy, begging to come here and we're interested in him. However we are holding back for some reason, which is probably due to us having other options.

There's still plenty of time before the season starts.

Can't wait for us to sign Vipotnik and wait for people to say we're skint coz he's on a free ffs

And I’ve not said he’s **** either I’ve said I like him but if we fail to get a striker again we shouldn’t be making any excuses for him. It needs sorting otherwise it’s gonna keep holding us back and we will fail every year at promotion

We simply have to, in order to compete and transform the wage bill. It's a shame because we have so many good youngsters. I think Clarke will go in this window and if Young has a good loan spell and Huggins stays fit, then I can see Patto and Hume moving next summer, probably Jobe too if we don't go up this season.

That would certainly give us a big war chest.

Some people have a very strange attitude towards Speakman, going on like he's actively working against the club. It's weird.

He's done a lot of good things and he's got a fair number of things wrong. Overall, the club is in a better place since he arrived but people still go on like he's some kind of fifth columnist. That attitude is more embarrassing than the club not signing an experienced centre forward. It's frustrating that we haven't signed one but, if we don't, the only conclusion to draw is that the right deal for the right player hasn't materialised. I'd rather the club acted sensibly in the transfer market than we had another Grigg situation. That really would be embarrassing.

My main worry is. If we have delayed this Mendy deal and we are pushing for someone else. Could that be an eggs in one basket situation again. Because if we fail to secure the main target I highly doubt Mendy is sticking around to come when we go crawling back. Just feels weird to me

Clarke's value will drop each window now as his contract winds down, if we can't get him to sign a new deal he has to be sold now while his value is at its highest imo

I’m not the type to person you can use that description on. Anyone who knows me or follows me elsewhere knows for a fact I’ve always been a big fan of speakman. But to me this striker situation has been a major problem for him and if we somehow don’t get it over the line again. How many times can we just keep ignoring it and making excuses for him.

It's a sad situation but we should definitely take advantage of Bordeaux's situation. So many talented players in their squad:

Vipotnik an obvious one. Would definitely need another forward through the door along with him though.

Pedro Diaz, if we are looking for another 8 then he'd be a good pickup. Same with Issouf Sissokho.

Malcom Bokele Mputu as a centre back option.

Mathys Angely is the big one though, 17 y/o centre back linked with Liverpool. We could offer him a quicker path to first team though. Top talent, probably a touch unrealistic.

With Bordeaux going under, get all players released, does that mean they are a free or the entity that was Bordeaux still hold their registration so a fee although less than valuation would be required? Anyone know for sure?

No one's making excuses for him. It's just coincidence that we've not been able to do a deal for a senior centre forward. They're at a premium at every level and every club is looking for a good one. Speakman has managed to make good signings at every other position so it's ridiculous to suggest that has an inability to sign centre forwards.

I've called for him to be replaced multiple times and would still do right now if I was asked the question, no need to insult the people who like him by saying they lick up his arse though. Just no need at all. We are clearly after a striker, we have bought strikers in recent years, it's not like the club aren't trying.

We've got some right fanny's for fans imo, we want a striker and we want him now. Just chill and enjoy the match today.

You quite literally have a striker begging to come here who has scored plenty. And if we’ve delayed it like prehab suggests. Why do we keep getting people over and delaying the actual deals?

why are we inclined to believe the positive news but if prehab shared news that isn’t necessarily looking good for us, we dismiss it?

I’m a fanny because I personally wouldn’t be happy if we don’t manage to sign a decent striker for the fourth window running? **** me yous are acting as if I’ve said sack the board and get rid of the lot. I just said there’s no excuse for him if we can’t get it done again.

I have a right to feel that way? Not intending to offend anyone but I’m quite worried if what prehab is saying is true
