Starmer has had more slogans than Heinz varieties. "Smash the gangs" is relevant here. He will be judged in time, as he says himself he cant be judged after 2 weeks and that is absolutely right. I bet he doesnt smash the gangs, but I hope I am wrong. You would hope a lawyer of such emminence knows he is spouting nonsense in such a claim, gangs of this size are never beaten down fully.
I have found the first two weeks of the Labour govt refreshing, albeit it is the so called homeymoon period. It is noticeable how his language has moderated a bit since he took his role. Again, no problem and I have been encouraged. If we are for ever to compare what he does versus what the tories did, and have such a low bar, then it is a bit pathetic for me. I do not like this version of the Labour party and their politics, but I want them to have 2 terms to make a difference. I just want them to be forward looking and not blame attributing. It would mark Starmer as a very different sort of politician and I would be delighted to have my doubts proven wrong.

I agree with this. It’s early but I’m impressed with the calm ethical efficiency. Gently tackling big issues like Gaza in a cerebral way and despite me valuing green priorities the Labour methods feel more credible. The Tories made to look thoroughly idiotic already, Long may it continue.

22% payrise for Junior doctors lol. Hasn’t even been a month and they’ve surrendered yet apparently there’s a huge “black hole”. Absolutely spineless, going to be a rough few years.
As a doctor in training you’ll earn a basic salary, plus pay for any hours over 40 per week, a 37 per cent enhancement for working nights, a weekend allowance for any work at the weekend, an availability allowance if you are required to be available on-call, and other potential pay premia.
In Foundation training, you will earn a basic salary of £32,398 to £37,303 (from 1st April, 2023).
Not really a huge wage for a junior doctor at the minute is it?
Both rises combined means a doctor starting foundation training in the NHS will see their base pay increase to £36,600, compared to around £32,400 before this offer was made. A full-time doctor entering specialty training will see their basic pay rise to over £49,900 from around £43,900 before this offer was made.
That’s before shift allowance by the way, so throw on another 35%. Just under £50k a year before you even add in weekends or overtime, whilst on foundation training is a ****e wage mind.
They just need to claw back some of the money the likes of Michelle Mone blatantly stole from the government. That should pay for a big lump of it
