Would it be possible to coach Embleton for that role of CDM. ? He'll go for next to nowt at this rate.
In regards to fees, Celtic bid €3m for Mendy back in 2022. I imagine that the fee would be around the same for us.
Nope, embleton isnt of the standard needed for a team looking to get promoted imo CDM is one of the hardest, if not the hardest position to play - hence why there is so few top CDMs in the world. You not only need to be technically good - being able to play on the half turn, always being aware of your space etc - but you need to be able to cover space quickly, read opponents mind to block passing lanes track runners etc and you also have to be an organiser Very hard to try someone up on all those aspects which i think we would need to do for embleton
If anything Embo is AA ( in the 10 ) replacement off the bench. Or he is moved on. Had talent for years and is always looking to sneak passes through the lines. Genuinely both footed which is massive. Just had many missed years where he hasn't kicked on.
Yep just hasnt kicked on at all, tidy enough player but just doesnt influence games enough for me and he struggles to cover the ground like others in the team I reckon he will be moved on this summer
It really is and it’s such an under appreciated role, which is why I feel a bit for Ekwah who’s had to deputise. Rodri has been the best player in the world this season for me but the chances of him winning the Balon D’or had he not also just won the euros would’ve been next to none because he’s a DM. Bit of pressure on them now that they’ve won it though, I hope he wins it fully deserved if he does.
He strikes the ball well, both feet, so will always score goals which is his biggest plus but he just isn’t quick enough for me for a higher level, he’s often reaching and not ahead. He also twists on apparently, especially when not playing. I’d offload him.
Henry Fieldson on trial at Grimsby fair play to him backing himself in men’s football, could have took the cushy route staying in the 23s for another 2 years, starting to see a lot more younguns dropping a level to get real experience now, really good to see
Embo is a nice,two-footed player with plenty of skill and passing vision.Just can't cover the ground quickly enough, often looks cumbersome.
Highly doubtful given how openly he coveted the top job. If I was Regis I wouldn't want him under me.
Bits of new info in there: ….. Ekwah initially joined Sunderland for a minimal fee, however a series of clauses were included in the deal, the majority of which are understood to have been met, forcing the Wearsiders to shell out more money. Nevertheless, Udinese’s interest means there is the potential to bank a considerable profit that could then be reinvested into other areas of the squad.… (regarding Galatasaray) The Turkish club are understood to have included Hume on a list of potential defensive targets, however there has been no formal contract with Sunderland officials and senior sources have dismissed suggestions that a £7m bid has been rejected. At this stage, Sunderland have not received an offer for Hume, who remains an important part of the club’s plans for next season.….
He’s class in a back 3 not so sure in a back 2 but a very good player at this level and bags of experience
We’ve never got any fit left backs anyway what we got to lose going with a back 3… Ba and Clarke wing backs, Neil 6 Browne 8, Adil and Jobe roaming 10s behind big Mendy up top haway the attack
