Just been talking to my marra about him, defenders know he is going inside, but cant do anything about it, just needs to release it, a podcast made a comment which seriously made me lol, he would dribble up his own arse :) I wonder if we get a good cf how he will play

Ba should be starting on the right for us this season like he’s just all round a better option. Roberts isn’t going to get any better nor is his decision making, he’s an incredible dribbler but what he lacks in end product and defensive work isn’t worth compromising on. He needs babysat on the right to be effective

I spent most matches thinking he must be thick. If midfielders or full backs run past him he still tries to beat people and loses it knowing we’ll clearly be exposed and we are. The clubs biggest transfer error was not taking a massive bundle from Southampton. You can’t blame dumb choices on centre forwards. What does he ever do except look tricky? Run with the ball for 20 metres when there’s free space is the answer. A genuine goal threat and/or regular creator of goals on the right is as important as a striker to me.

Are we forgetting how good Roberts was under Mowbray in the play-off season?

There’s more to being a good player than stats. Teams double up on Roberts and he gets us higher up the pitch with ease.

Ba is extremely raw and could potentially become a good player, but Roberts has more to give at this stage.

    IMO.

He was better when we had Stewart and more likely to release the ball so I’d expect better stats but some of that will be more about the striker making better use of bobbles and deflected passes/shots than Roberts intentionally creating. They all count though and Roberts certainly gets defenders into panic stations. I would be inclined to keep him.

Tactics and coaching will sort Roberts out imo ...

... he's one of our best players when the team are pulling together.

Having a focal point, in the centre of goal, is clearly needed.

Him and Amad playing off each other was worth the season ticket money alone.

I wouldn’t be looking to “get rid” of Roberts. But of all our established players he’s one I wouldn’t mind seeing linked to a club willing to pay a good chunk of money.

I don't see it with Roberts, to me he only looked good when he had amad. Ba has a load of potential and he was showing it at the beginning of the season, he will come on very good

I thought his final product was ****e then tbh. Totally overrated. Not a patch on Clarke

Not a fan of Roberts, just not my favoured type of winger. On form he's good but when he's off the boil he's constantly the worst player on the pitch.

I will say in his defence that Mowbray killed his play at the start of the season having Hume playing inverted, Roberts needs the fullback to overlap him.

By the sounds of it RLB likes both his full backs to be an attacking threat which should help.

As I said, he brings more to the team for me.

He doesn’t really need to be compared to Clarke here either as they play on opposite wings.

That's very unfair imo. I don't think he ever got up to full fitness last season due to injuries. Never had a chance to get up to speed by getting a run of games. We should keep him

I have to disagree with you there mate.

I think we need our RW to be just as potent and productive as Clarke. That way, opposing teams have a problem, because they can't double up on both of them.

I really think Ba will kick on under le bris, I really feel some of the grief he gets is very harsh, if he gets a good run and trust I think he will flourish, just needs to calm down in front of goal

We do need to get rid of some players, otherwise we’ll have a squad of around 40 players at this rate.

    I reckon:

    Young - loan
    Embleton - sell
    Matete - sell
    Mayenda - loan
    Anderson - sell
    Bennette - sell

There’s an argument to loan Hemir as well, but I think he’s got something about him and he looked more of a handful towards end of the season.

I’d be sorry to see Embleton go, but he’s just struggling too much to keep fit. I’m close to having the same attitude towards Cirkin and Huggins too tbf.

We have a large squad even after those depart, I’d want us to focus on bringing in quality in the spine of the team. We’ve seemingly started that with Browne in CM, now to focus on a central striker and CB.

    GK: Patterson, Moore
    RB: Huggins (injured), Hume, Pembele
CB: Ballard, O’Nien, Alese (LB too), New, Hjelde (LB too), Seelt (injured), Triantis
    LB: Cirkin
CM: Browne, Neil, Ekwah, Jobe (ST too), Rigg, Aouchiche
Wingers: Clarke, Ba, Roberts, Mundle, Watson, Rusyn (ST too)
    ST: New, Hemir

Nope, he was ok at u21 level but honestly never stood out

Not sure i see him as a championship striker but then again rohl is a quality coach so might turn him into 1

I’m somewhat jealous that they’ve got Rohl. He looks to have turned a very average team into a half decent one.
