Superb signing. Versatile, leader, quality on and off the ball, he's even good in the air for a smaller player. Let Neil sit and dictate and allow Browne to do the running.

Agree,if Fishy is correct,it seems odd. At 29,to take a pay cut must mean the length of the deal....4 or 5 years would take him to 34 ish.
Very surprising for us to break our previous recent protocols.

When Browne and Norwood were supposedly head to head, I thought to myself surely the common sense move, especially for Speakman, would be the more mobile, younger midfielder? I'm glad we've seemingly went and done that. Not that it rules out Norwood, but given our midfield I'd be shocked if we spunked more big wages on another midfielder.

If Browne does come off its an absolutely tremendous start to the window and Speakman is making me eat my ****e.

I've a great memory for (relatively) useless info. Sadly, it uses all my brain capacity meaning there's no room for any vaguely important or useful stuff.

I have only really seen PNE when they've played against us in recent years, and majority of the time we have outplayed them so never watched Browne to any extent or at least he never stood out like say Millar did in the home game but on paper he seems a good solution and more favorable than other options

Apologies gents it’s been a hectic week work wise so haven’t had much chance to come on here …

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that two free agents had been up, one being Norwood who it’s nearly at a full agreement with. As Fishpaste has reported Browne has become favourite over Norwood in past couple of days with talks progressing very well. I wouldn’t rule out getting both but we need to ship a few players on first. Would be a real coup (Browne). With the Neil contract I’ve still heard the same that it’s all agreed and is a matter of it just being announced.

Ontop of the two free agents, a striker has been up on Friday (no idea who)

Yep. Even if you just take it on face value.

    300+ Championship games
    35 International Caps
    Energetic midfielder
Club captain of a perenneal midtable championship side for the last 4 years
    Not even 30 yet
That side were willing to offer him a 3 year deal to keep him.

And then compare that to the midfield we do have.

Its such a no-brainer that it deserves its own category of no-brainerness

Agree he'd be a good signing and I'd prefer him over Norwood. One thing in your post that struck me was the smaller player comment. He looked a decent height when we've played them previously. Certainly thought he looked a six footer but seems that he's only around 5 10.

Interested to see how he slots in. Seems to be capable of doing a bit of everything in midfield, will we be asking him to get forward or sit deep? So hard to say when we don't really know what the preferred shape will be for RLB.

I can't see us signing both Browne and Norwood. Browne would be the preference for me and I'm assuming it would mean that Embo and Jay would be moving on.
Love to know who the striker is.

If it is Browne, how does that affect the the consensus that we needed a DM?

Reckon we would still need a back up to neil

If we go with a CM 3 then could be:
    Neil
    Browne Jobe

Then options of ekwah n rigg for the box to box roles so id still like another CDM

I'm curious to see what he does with LON, there's a tiny part of my brain that is saying he'll have a new (or old) position again this season.
