How about Clarke stays, the new manager builds a team around him, the club buy in 2 players he can actually pass to in the box giving us another goal scoring opportunity other than Clarke doing it all himself.
I'm not keen on selling our best assets IF the club can afford to build without doing so.
Over to you Mr Owner. ( That's not a knock at KLD cos he's doing a cracking job imo).

We can’t afford to build without doing so though that much is already clear. If we could we would’ve just blown money for fun when we came up and thrown silly wages about.

Sounds daft but if Clarke goes and we get a big fee to reinvest and improve the whole squad. I’m taking it. We would be able to bring in a good striker too. Also you’d lose that crutch of our current squad being far too reliant on Clarke

100% mate. He’s a championship footballer at the end of the day and nobody in that squad isn’t irreplaceable. Might be difficult to find the right player first time round but as you’ve mentioned signing numerous players all over the pitch for bigger fees will likely improve us.

Impossible to replace Clarke like for like but very possible to improve the squad by selling him

In a way we need to sell someone like Clarke in order to give a better judgement on how the much talked about “model” actually works in practice. Is Clarke our most valuable asset - yes, he probably is so if we get a decent offer that suits all parties and he moves on then the next stage of the model kicks in and we hopefully invest the money to strengthen the team where needed - eg striker and defensive midfielder. It’s only when this happens will we be able to see if the model is working as it should and can give a more informed judgement as to its effectiveness

Would anyone take Godden from Coventry or Tom Bradshaw from Millwall? Both seem to be available and would improve us.

Said at the start of last season I would’ve had Godden, think he would’ve suited us down to the ground for a short term solution up top. Will be 33 when the new season starts though

Johnston did well for WBA but been shocking before then so wouldnt be keen if celtic want 6 million for him (thats the rumour)
Anyone up there worth looking at? We have a good record signing lads from Scotland

Aye I would as part of a striking department I think they’d both offer something, would prefer Bradshaw out of the two of them

Lennon miller is a youngster i really like, CM with a bright future

Shankland is the obvious one, not suited if we want to press high but if we drop into a mid block then he would be good for us

The standard up here is really poor at the minute tbh, i go to the odd hearts n hibs games and the standard is awful
