I think this is something to do with different personality types, the two obvious ones that show themselves on forums like this is the positive/negative outlook under suspenseful circumstances. Some people just crumble and devolve into loathing at the first sight of adversity, others sort of puff their chests out and act a bit bullish about it.

I prefer the latter out of those two and most people are probably somewhere in between but we seem to have our fair share of moaning wimps.

You really have an odd way of showing your support for your team! I get that you will probably voice it as realism but tbh it is more like nihilism and a rejection of what you claim to support.

I just don't take my pants off immediately for the girl who's kicked me in the balls before based on her saying she won't do it again.

Give me the right signals and the pants will be off like lightning ;) like they've got Velcro down the side.

The worst are those who puff their chests out, act bullishly and try to impose their negativity on everyone else.

It's not a case of feeling sorry about the situation ...

... they absolutely relish it and try every means possible to put a negative slant on everything.

As I've said, if they're so unhappy about Sunderland they just really stop.

As a mentality I'm team bullish over team victim any day of the week.

This thread is confusing me now. You must all be responding to someone I have on ignore. Seems like I did the right thing. Looking forward to the new season and I bet the lads are too.

As a supporter there's no real choice otherwise there'd be no one go to watch Hartlepool ...

... if you're 'looking for a return on your investment' you're not a football supporter imo.

Expecting things to run smoothly, in any football club, is idiocy ...

... Leicester won the PL title and were subsequently relegated, now they have FFP issues.

    Nuff said.

He was on ignore as 'Exile' but was banned and now back, with a different name, repeating the same drivel people ignored him for.

Do you really believe anyone cares whether you 'support' the club or not ...

... your only involvement, with the club, seems to be on this forum.

The forum went along nicely, when you were banned as Exile, and would carry on fine if you never posted again imo.

You're not simply commenting on negative aspects, you're inventing some that don't even exist.

Football is obviously tribal, as much as some don't like to think about it that way, if you consider a member of the tribe being almost permanently blackpilled (pessimistic), they'd likely be exiled from it or removed from influence as not to infect others. It's better to be inherently positive/supportive from an evolutionary point of view, even if that is misguided at times.

Yep I think that’s the only person I have on ignore. Talks the club down at every opportunity. Strange sort of supporter.

Of course it's misguided, we sing that we're the greatest team the world has even seen <laugh>

That's not the point though, as you know, there has to be a suspension of disbelief otherwise we wouldn't have gone down to London in 1973. And we owe it to the people around us to have some joy and optimism otherwise every game would be dreary. When you're on the train down to Plymouth you owe it, imo, to other supporters to be in good spirits, be optimistic and make the most of the weekend.

Constantly whining about every f*cking thing would find you travelling alone pretty quickly ...

... then finding yourself on a chat forum trying to find someone who'd respond to you <laugh>

You're hitting on something prudent here, not to move off football because there are other threads for those things, but to love something isn't to hate something else, also to love what is yours (Sunderland AFC in this example) doesn't mean you're ignoring the bad things that have happened in the past.

People who are eternally blackpilled on here need to shamed out of their behaviour tbh, because we are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen.

The forum seems to be a lot friendlier when you're not advertising how much better a supporter than anyone else you are and provoking fights with anyone who doesn't think exactly as you do.

So maybe take your own advice and allow the rest of us to discuss our opinions without piling in. Scroll on by, it's not a challenge to a duel.
