I thought we did ok last night against a side that parked the bus. Their star striker barely had a touch and got hooked. The fluency still isn’t there but Southgate’s subs changed the game positively.

I do think Bellingham needs to get his finger out and be given a defined role to stick to. Last night he seemed to get in the way as many times as he contributed positively.

We need to improve in the knockouts. There were signs last night that we are preparing for that. Plus teams will now come at us rather than just defend, which plays to England’s strengths.

I realise none of that matches the moany tailspin a few usual suspects have descended into. I’m not sorry about that.

Someone even said this morning that the way to beat a team parking the bus was the launch balls over the top and behind them. You cannae defy the laws of physics captain.

Yeah, last night was a different type of game and different performance. This was more standard stuff, struggling to break down an ultra-defensive side. Like the USA and Scotland games at the last two tournaments. It wasn't as troubling as the previous two games, though I don't think it told us much about whether we'll be any better than those two when we play a more attacking side again.

Just a mo.....Didn't Peter Taylor have one game? Which they won?

PS...On the Foden criticism ..He's not a left winger....Unfortunately, the brains trust that is Southgate can't see it...And Holland doesn't have the balls, the gumption, or the gravitas to tell him...One or all three.
And made beckham captain

This 'moany tailspin' from a 'few usual suspects' you speak of,does that include the fans who were actually in attendance, having spent a considerable amount of time and money doing so?

Or are they entitled to their opinion?

I haven't suggested anyone shouldn't express their opinions, I just expressed mine. Would you rather I didn't?

It's of no consequence to me whether you do or not.

If you decide to,then you might want to enlighten us to who the usual suspects are?

Negativity in the trenches affects everyone. Spreads misery and it loves company, but is it good for others to read endlessly?

I noticed this at the time, but why did Kane lay it off for Palmer instead of playing it back to Mainoo who would’ve been clean through one-on-one with the keeper in a central position? Such a simple pass. It was harder to pass to Palmer.
