Everything I posted was being said about us mate ...

... my point is that, if we were a laughing stock, surely the whole country are laughing at Burnley.
Outside of the North East nobody gives us a second thought, that will only change when we get back to the Premier League, it’s comical how people kept saying we were a laughing stock, the traffic on here is slowing down because people don’t have much to moan about now until the transfer window starts kicking in

All clubs hire, fire and look for managers.

Some of the top clubs do no better than we've done this time, Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd, etc, have all had their disasters.

But it's not as if we've had a series of disasters, Johnson had us top two, Neil took us up and Mowbray almost got us to the PL.

Beale was a disaster because he simply didn't fit but was never a 'typical Sunderland' appointment.

I hated the man, and cringed every time I saw him speak, but don't define the club with one appointment.

I live outside of the North East and even though my mates take a passive interest in the lads because of me, they still know very little about what happens at our club.

A couple of them had heard of Still "that football manager bloke without his badges", but pretty much Still, Maric, Le Bris, Jansen and even Rosenior really are unknown amongst your average fan, so it's not as if one would have been respected but another ridiculed.

When people say "we're a laughing stock" they pretty much mean that their mag mates are winding them up and they can't take it. But the bit they're missing is that their mag mates would have laughed at anything we did because the whole purpose is to wind someone up.

Similar experience here. My mates from outside the NE only have the vaguest concept of what's happened/happening with the club. Most were bemused, or amused, when I told them how upset people were getting about things on the basis of very little evidence.

Exactly what I believe mate.

To a degree I sympathise but, seriously, if you can't find enough to mock the Mags with you're really not looking.

They're an absolute gift and their supporters are a gift that never stops giving <laugh>

I’m lucky in that whilst I know not many Sunderland fans, I also know not many Newcastle fans. So I don’t ever fear us being a “laughing stock” with mates etc. any time I perceive us as such it’s all in my own stoopid head

Some of the scariest names to be said on this thread

Dave Challinor
Stephen Robinson
Robbie Keane
John Terry

Thank god for Regis Le Cheese

Never understood the hate for Challinor, the bloke has been a success everywhere he's gone. Admittedly in lower leagues but he's a manager on the up, I thought he seemed an exciting prospect, personally

I said it a few weeks back but I will say it again. I watch a lot of German football, got into it a few years back and just prefer it overall to our game so my suggestion was Fabian Hürzeler, St Pauli head coach in the German second division. Top of the league and unbeaten this season. Took over during the world cup break last season and while St Pauli were in the bottom half and took them on a 10 game winning run and ended the season in 5th. This season they have played 16 won 10 and drew 6 in all competitions, average 2 goals a game and have only conceded 12 goals. Plays a very high intensity 3-4-3 which generates a lot of shots and good chances from turnovers in good areas. Only 30 years old with good pedigree as he has been on the coaching staff of multiple German national youth teams.

Great knowledge. Interesting to see how he goes.

You are lucky, to an extent. I can't get myself out of the mindset developed from going to a mixed school in the 90s. Even living outside the NE, I seem to find Mags everywhere. I used to work with one, my current neighbour is one, I even know a couple more.

I’ve got a Jack Russell and a romanian rescue mix (hilariously she looks a bit like a corgi) but they are black coated so there’s no chance walking later

Regardless of Weather its always the big walk for me early on a morning. I am fine walking, its when I have sat down for a bit and getting back up. I think I need a bath in WD40
