Many years ago, over twenty, a requirement was for an ecg over the age of forty. Signing me off the doc said you have the heart and arteries of an 18 year old. but your smoking has given you the lungs of an 80 year old on 60 a day. Stop smoking? Nah, not for now. To last year, copd getting worse so sent to a pulminary rehab course. Popped the machine on, took it off, checked my pulse the proper way with fingers and watch. "You better see your GP". Why? "You better see your GP." A week later I had a pacemaker fitted. My pulse rate fluctuated between 34 and got as high as 37, a total heart block. It was the comment about "a remote" that prompted this. They checked my pacemaker was functioning as it should with a pc, bluetooth. Oh, great. Just need some ****er with an app and I'll end up doing the hokey cokey in the pub!! Last week, attended the rearranged pulminary clinic. Oh dear, not happy, you better see your GP. Again? Another ecg and tell me I have QT. Doc seemed pretty cool about it, but sending the ecg results to a specialist. All the symptons I had I just put down to smoking. Certainly the lack of breath. I also guinea pig at the medical school Castle Hill. The students come in and examine me, and discuss their findings with the examiner. All of them checked my pulse, including doctor consultant the heart kiddy kid. Sometime between the end of June and mid November my heart, or one half, downed tools and I had no idea.
So far, no "No Drinking" instructions, or meds.
