I can't persuade my cardiac guy to change his "no bloody alcohol whatsoever" rule due to afib even though lifetime meds are seeming to be doing the trick! You on the same banning order by any chance?
My cardiac specialist only said to not overdo alcohol. i am on 4 different medications for different ailments which say don’t drink more than 2 pints.By my logic 2 x 4 = 8. Never been told no alcohol whatsoever, fortunately.
I'm on 13 meds a day and told I can have 1 drink a day but not to save them for one session so i've given up altogether. 1 drink only wets ya mouth FFS.
Sounds like your guy went to the right med school then . Excellent second opinion. One of my golf partners and ex-football teammate's a retired GP. Knowing that b......d, I'll not be asking for a 3rd opinion He's a Scot with a sense of devilment and will send me a another slew of medical scientific papers to back up my cadio's ruling, like he did the last time I asked. Thanks for feedback. My hopes may have just improved.
The specialist I had dealing with me for a long time is a Muslim and I got to know him quite well Smashing bloke with a very dry sense of humour. He said to me though he doesn’t drink for religious reasons he thinks too much is made of don’t have a drink as long as you are sensible. Once when a woman was round asking me how many units I drank he said after she had gone that he finds them irritating hassling people when they are lying in a hospital bed. He has moved and his replacement is also a Muslim. Said similar on my check up, asked me if I drank and when I said yes but not as much as I used to said it would do me no harm as long as I was sensible. Apparently one of my meds does not work as well if you drink a lot but you are OK if you aren’t on it every day.
When I had my bypass a few years ago, an old bloke in next bed who had same op day before me asked the doc, “Is it ok for me to have a Guiness “ the doc looked shocked but didn’t say no, so he got out his can and supped it. Respect
Many years ago, over twenty, a requirement was for an ecg over the age of forty. Signing me off the doc said you have the heart and arteries of an 18 year old. but your smoking has given you the lungs of an 80 year old on 60 a day. Stop smoking? Nah, not for now. To last year, copd getting worse so sent to a pulminary rehab course. Popped the machine on, took it off, checked my pulse the proper way with fingers and watch. "You better see your GP". Why? "You better see your GP." A week later I had a pacemaker fitted. My pulse rate fluctuated between 34 and got as high as 37, a total heart block. It was the comment about "a remote" that prompted this. They checked my pacemaker was functioning as it should with a pc, bluetooth. Oh, great. Just need some ****er with an app and I'll end up doing the hokey cokey in the pub!! Last week, attended the rearranged pulminary clinic. Oh dear, not happy, you better see your GP. Again? Another ecg and tell me I have QT. Doc seemed pretty cool about it, but sending the ecg results to a specialist. All the symptons I had I just put down to smoking. Certainly the lack of breath. I also guinea pig at the medical school Castle Hill. The students come in and examine me, and discuss their findings with the examiner. All of them checked my pulse, including doctor consultant the heart kiddy kid. Sometime between the end of June and mid November my heart, or one half, downed tools and I had no idea. So far, no "No Drinking" instructions, or meds.
Good luck with it mate, the Cardiac Unit at Castle Hill have been brilliant with me so you're in good hands.
He'd need a drink if he was with you. Visitor to nurse on Rico's ward, 'can you tell me where Mr Richardson is please?'. Nurse's reply, 'oh that moaning git'. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Thank you, and of course best wishes to everyone who has swapped heart sories and prompted me to tell my story. I know many of us on here are no longer the immortal invincibles we once thought we were. It is more "where the ****!"£$&^%**** did that come from?" Sound familiar? So, to all the young immortal huge mighty invincibles reading - ha! your turn one day!!
If they get there, aside from death life has few guarantees. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
It was the waking you up at 6 asking you if you wanted tea, when every day you said no that got me and a few others pissed off
Not Hull City Centre, but loads of roadworks in Anlaby from Monday until October. Might affect travel to games for some. Typically impressive HDM reporting mind you Week 1 closure is in Anlaby according to them, but is actually Willerby, and there is no such road as ‘Ashton’ so presumably they mean ‘Aston’ and later if anyone can point me to Wolferton Drive that would be good Week 1 - Road Closure - Kingston Road at Ashton Road Junction. Weeks 1-5 - Road Closure - Ashton Road between the Kington Road Junction to Hazelbarrow Drive Weeks 5-9 - Multiway Lights - Wolfreton Road and Forty Steps Week 12 - Road Closure -Wolfreton Drive at the Springfield Way Junction Road 13 - Road Closure - North Street Weeks 14-16 - Multiway Lights - Pryme Street, Wolferton Drive and Wilson Street https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/three-months-road-works-anlaby-9361344
