totally ambivalent to the new HC...I simply no nothing about the guy. I'll judge only on what team he puts out and how we play.

Summary:
*extensive youth coaching record.
*fantastic first season in management finishing 10th with a "yo-yo" team.
*sold top players that summer.
*could not stave off relegation last season.

Spot on. It makes sense to look at it that way as struggling teams like Lorient will just accumulate more XGA than XG overtime and the graph would look a bit daft after two seasons.
Yeah, I think its a bit of an unfair graphic to him really. Youd think most mid table / bottom half teams are going to look like that. I wouldnt mind seeing it per game as oppose to the rolling average, I mean one game against PSG could blow that way out of proportion.

I'm so ****ing glad it's coming to an end

Me too mate! I can imagine when my lovely lady (NO) asked me to marry her.....she was waiting around, talking to family, girlfriends and colleagues, all with endless speculation until I made an announcement....it's an unbearable time for people....that not knowing, worrying about the future, the longer it goes on,getting ever more uncertain, doubts and rumours creeping in.

Summary:
*extensive youth coaching record.
*took over a team that had finished 16th the 2 previous seasons
*fantastic first season in management finishing 10th with a "yo-yo" team.
*sold top players that summer.
*could not stave off relegation last season.

Tidied

Stating the obvious but France isn't England and their league is totally different ...

... Lorient isn't Sunderland but both shipbuilding towns I believe.

I think that's where their name came from, they copied our original badge as well <laugh>

Right. Done some exercise and had a chance to clear my head.

  • Regis Le Bris has my full support. Looking forward to what he can do with the lads. Wouldn't have been my choice, but then I'd never heard of him.
  • What's interesting is both he and Beale seem to have been selected for their ability to develop talent, rather than achieve results. Its a clear priority of KLD / Speakman. And whilst I understand it, again wouldn't be my choice.
  • If Le Bris brings an assistant and ideally another coach, great. I think he needs at least that
  • If he comes alone - its ****ing appalling.
  • Either way I want Speakman out. Which looks unlikely to be happening any time soon

It sounds like we've got him.

Everything KLD wanted, if not the first name that comes to mind. He should provide a decent foil to Speakman.

If KLD has to pay compensation it suggests commitment, which I've been a little worried about.

When you say "either way you want Speakman out".....does that stand if we hit the top mix for promotion next season?

My other thought, which I may get pelters for, is I wonder what success looks like for Kristjaan Speakman.

Does he want to be the guy that got Sunderland back to the Premier League. Or does he want to be the guy that is remembered in the wider footballing world for developing players like Jude Bellingham.

His head coach appointments seem to point towards developing players not achieving results. Even Mowbray it was all about how he develops young players.

I know the strategy is to develop players and its one I applaud and like. I just wonder if the end goal really is Premier League (for Speakman that is, I'm sure it is for KLD)

Yes it does. I don't like him. And I think he isn't actually aiming to be in the mix for promotion YET so if we are its a happy accident.
