£5m comp is actually on the other end of concerning. Personally I don't think we'd be daft enough to pay that for something that typically lasts 18 months.
I know there are no guarantees but I would prefer someone to come in with the expectation of automatic promotion hanging over him. Pressure to perform from day one. Will we expect this of a manager new to the country and the league and will we fall into the trap of putting up with more mediocrity as he's got an automatic excuse that will get him well into the back end of the season before everyone starts complaining about it. Anyway I wont hold my breath on this until I see his picture on SAFC.com kissing the badge! I just hope they back whoever comes in with quality over quantity signings.
Don't think we'll be paying that considering it was a clause and we are in discussions over the compensation, presumably meaning we want it lower
To be fair another 18 months and a relegation has passed since Nice went after him, there’s no chance we’ve paid anywhere close to 5m for him when we wouldn’t pay less than that for Still in January. It’s a good appointment, it’s not an easy option so let’s get behind the bloke instead of squabbling.
please log in to view this image Per Chris Weatherspoon. Being canny thick here but dont understand the 10 game rolling average part? I assume the bottom line is games played so is not just based on per game? Surely if it based per game Lorient couldnt have had worse XG then their opponents every game under him.
Yep definitely needs backing. Interestingly Llorient got rid of Aouchiche after only a season there, whilst Le Bris was in charge so no idea if he doesn’t rate him or didn’t have a say in the transfer. He’s a French speaker with loads of youth coaching under his belt which will be great for both the French speakers and the younger lads. Seems a win win.
Nor do I. It certainly flies in the face of the prudent financial management we've attributed to the KLD regime.
It’s an average so where it peaks up they will’ve had higher xG and when it goes back down it’ll be less. Wouldn’t surprise me if the majority were lower though they were punching above their weight last season.
Ten game rolling average is the average over 10 games. As you move onto the next game (game 11) and get that new data, you drop the oldest data in the metric (game 1). Maybe someone else can explain it better, you drop old data as you get new data and only ever count the last 10 games.
We know Adil is a good player,......L'Orient may have cashed in on him,I don't know. Given the make up of our current squad,I'm hoping he can get the best from them......if he is our next coach....not confirmed yet as far as I am aware.
Ah cheers mate, so when it gets to 67 on the bottom it is just games 57-67 as opposed to game 67 itself I read that as. Considering they were underdogs in both season it was unlikely his teams over a ten game period would have more Xg for than against. Makes a bit more sense now, cheers.
Just done some digging on this, they were 2nd after 11 games of the season and 6th come the half way point which coincides with them selling some players in January and falling away. If they backed him they could’ve pushed for a European place. They’d only lost 5 games at that point including to PSG, Lens (finished 2nd), Marseille and Nice who were all good teams. Montpellier being the 5th.
Spot on. It makes sense to look at it that way as struggling teams like Lorient will just accumulate more XGA than XG overtime and the graph would look a bit daft after two seasons.
totally ambivalent to the new HC...I simply no nothing about the guy. I'll judge only on what team he puts out and how we play.
Perhaps Rosenior came across as having reservations about taking our job that couldn't be settled to the satisfaction of all parties and the club continued to review other candidates , as a professional organisation should. Just saying
