He kept his cards close to his chest which is to be expected I suppose. Let's be fair it was an interview with LFC.com so the questions were never going to be likely to provoke anything other than saying what you'd expect.
Not sure what to make of that. Nice smiley man, speaks English very well. I’m not looking for a manager to be giving out constant sound bites but this first interview wasn’t very inspiring.
FYI... I tried to unbald Arne. Most AI image generators won't let you generate real people... so I did a hunt and supposedly Midjourney does.
This is not what I was expecting The generated picture does NOT match the prompt.

Slot is giving his first interview today at 4pm.

Thoughts?
It's hard to have thoughts because he didn't really say anything of importance. First glance at what to expect will be in the friendlies. He claims to be a voice of continuity (not in those words), and he might be. Won't know until a ball is kicked.

Because I’m sceptical of the appointment to start with, I was hoping to see a glimpse of something to start to change my mind. I didn’t get that. It’s unfair to be too critical because it is his first interview. We were spoilt with Klopp.Thoughts?

I don't really understand why you're so lukewarm about him, tbh.Because I’m sceptical of the appointment to start with, I was hoping to see a glimpse of something to start to change my mind. I think you’re doing a bit of mind reading here but unsuccessfully.I don't really understand why you're so lukewarm about him, tbh.
I get that you're disappointed that Klopp has left, but he had to go sometime and someone had to replace him. Slot won't be Klopp mkII either on the pitch or in interviews so we have to accept that. Take him for what he is and let's give him a chance.
I thought the interview was fine, I don't know what else he could have said or done - though I think the make-up girl could have powdered his bonce a bit, the highlight was dazzling.
Klopp was all about emotion, and if we're honest, that was a double-edged sword sometimes. On my very limited knowledge of him, Slot seems to me to have more of an intellectual approach, we'll see.
He's up against it, he has an almost impossible act to follow, and only results will get him through that - his personality won't. He has a number of obstacles to overcome, lack of support from the fans shouldn't be one of them.
Not at all, I haven't put any words into your mouth, and I've never conjectured on what you're thinking. I've only commented on your self-confessed feelings of being "underwhelmed", as you put it. I'm just going on what you've said.I think you’re doing a bit of mind reading here but unsuccessfully.
Everyone was disappointed when Klopp left and nobody is expecting Slot to be Klopp, well, speaking for myself, I’m not. I’m someone who supports anyone who puts on the red shirt, even Balotelli got my support. I will be supporting Slot 100%. I’ve said as much several times now. We all see and feel things differently. Gut instincts are illogical by nature. We don’t control them. My gut instinct is telling me that Slot isn’t the one. It’s one of those occasions where I’m hoping to be proved wrong.
Just me being pedantic but I’ve never said previously that I was disappointed with Klopp leaving. Not at all, I haven't put any words into your mouth, and I've never conjectured on what you're thinking. You say you're supportive, but it isn't coming across that way, not to me at least. You aren't usually negative about anyone at the club, so I'm a bit surprised.
You say it's a gut feeling, but perhaps if you tried to put it into words it would be easier to understand.
And, just out of interest, who would you have been happy with - apart from Alonso?
Yeah, like I said, only results will win over the fans.To be frank, if you already have reservations about the manager then I don't really see how an interview prior to him even meeting the squad might change your mind - There are plenty of managers out there that talk a better game than their skills reflect.
That’s an odd take. How else do you get to change your mind about someone other than listening to them and getting to know them? I’m not looking to know what his tactics are, I’m looking to get an insight into the man.To be frank, if you already have reservations about the manager then I don't really see how an interview prior to him even meeting the squad might change your mind - There are plenty of managers out there that talk a better game than their skills reflect.

As saint said, it’s unusual for me to be negative about anyone at the club and that’s so true. It’s surprised me. I’m an open minded person and other than my core values, I’m prepared to change my mind on absolutely anything.
I somehow missed this. I’m not sure that the club brief any new players or managers about the questions that will be asked on camera. You want a real response, thinking on their feet, not a rehearsed speech. All the questions were easy to answer and surely a message for the fans hardly needs preparation. Think of it in reverse. If someone with a camera and microphone stopped you in the street and said “as a Liverpool fan, what’s your message for Arne Slot?” How difficult would you find that to answer? My only take away is for all the talks they might have had, the club has put absolutely zero into briefing the guy.
The interviewer threw him a chance to address the fans direct and he didn't have anything.
If the guy wanted him to have a klopp moment dressing the fans in a heartfelt way he should have at least told him it was coming.
After that the Internet types won't be the least bit impressed as he mention feynoord more the Liverpool.
Most fans couldnt give a stuff where you were last or how happy you were, they want to be told how great they are and how amazing their club is. Againthe club didn't seem to brief this at all.
For what it's worth he seems a regular Dutch kind of guy and that's about it for me. Nothing but reinforcement of what has been lost which is not fair to him.
