When some club takes our next head coach off us. Tribunal goes like....
SAFC "3 year contract. We want 3 years' compensation!!"
Other club "but you haven't held onto a head coach for more than 3 months since 1953...."
Frankly if its more than a million or so I'd argue they should have already moved on. Paying more than £1m compensation for a Head Coach that isn't guaranteed to work out is just silly. There are so many good coaches out on the continent and we are supposed to be able to identify these and pay peanuts compensation.
Ok, so can you give us a figure of what you're source is saying. If it's the £3 mil which is what you're suggesting to me it is I would say offer him a contract and let's see what a tribunal comes up with.
FAR IN EXCESS OF £900k could be millions more. Is there a difference between “in excess of” and “considerably more than” and “considerably in excess of”? Sorry, not being pedantic, genuinely interested.

Tbf, the compensation fee's for managers lately are getting higher and higher
I had a 2 minute conversation a few hours ago, he didn't tell me the exact fee they're asking nor would he know the exact details like that, just that the negotiations are going slow and they're asking for a hefty fee, in considerable excess of £900,000. Otherwise everything else is ready to go.
What is the harm in the itks sharing the name that they are hearing? They did with Still, Jansen and Rosenior when they were linked, some did with Maric.
They are. All the more reasons to be the ones identifying the young talented coaches and become the ones demanding compensation, rather than one of the ones paying it.
They can't be bothered with the hassle when people obsess over every little detail mate. Fair enough really.

But i'd also say that the compensation i'd be willing to pay would be similar to what I'd be willing to pay for a player and in our current state I think that would be around £2-3million, so i'd be willing to go to that. As long as the coach is properly identified and fits I think it's the same risk as a player, with potentially an even bigger impact.
All they are essentially saying at the moment is that a head coach will be appointed. I just can't see the harm in mentioning the name they've heard, like they have in the past.
In a sensible world, a head coach you really want should be worth paying for, but with the way they are discarded nowadays it's probably not worth it.
Upthere, (who is a decent poster otr) insinuates that £900,000 is the release clause in his contract. I'm not a one who wants to argue or fall out with anyone and I get excited with anything posted but why if he is right would we be paying more
