So what happens if they appoint someone you like ...

... will you still insist you're not convinced just to prove yourself right?

Read the bottom of that post, of course I hope they appoint the right guy, I am Sunderland fan, But this will never disguise how botched this process has been. They have admitted this in the brief statement from last week....well they admitted they have made mistakes. I'm really not sure why you constantly defend this situation, to me, its been shambolic.

My view is nobody will convince me this has been an effective recruitment process where they got their man in an efficient and well organised manner. Simply due to the time they have taken.

Whether we get the right coach is another topic in my opinion. I still say the process they had before Neil was appointed was a shambles that could have cost us. Then they ended up with a good coach in the end. Hope we have the same outcome here, but they need to focus some attention on how they go about this part of their jobs. For me anyway.

Regardless what the market is like ( I assume you're not involved in football recruitment and therefore know as much as I do) 120 days....yes 120 days...not 45 is long enough to research, interview and appoint a first team coach for a mid table 2nd tier football club. We are not a special case. The amount of countries where football id played, you're actually telling me there is not 1 manager that we could have appointed in that time frame. The amount of money we spunk on agents, I'm pretty sure we must have collated the names and stats on a few potentials.....but as I said below, with our approach on this role, looks like not.

At least one more Championship club will lose their manager before the season starts ...

... and the amount of days will be irrelevant.

A lot of excuses for Speakman and KLD here. A good owner and DOF would get it over the line when they’re close. Ours seem incapable and there’s always an excuse ‘someone else turned their head’ etc.

What about if the facts, when they're actually known, show you're wrong?

I really cant imagine any facts that would justify the time taken. That is because, in my opinion, the time taken has already caused the club to be on the back foot ahead of this coming season, for reasons I have previously shared. For the new coach to have the optimum chance of success, he needed to be in post no later than 2 weeks ago in my opinion. It will be a big ask for the pre season to be exactly what our new coach would have wanted it to be.

Me neither but I'm happy to admit I might be wrong.

The fact is we had Will Still here but didn’t have people within the club capable of selling it to him that good that his head wasn’t turned and they didn’t have the ability to get him over the line there and then.

I would double down, and stamp my feet.

Fair point, if the evidence were there I would have to be convinced wouldnt I. I suspect there is no evidence mind, but lets see.

All that really matters, right now, is a good coach lands very quickly. Maybe then the club can explain, although I am only a gobshite fan so they can carry on without it.

I honestly don't know. And can't find out more than I've posted.
I got the info from 2 separate agents, both I've known for over 20 years.
BUT please take what I'm saying as info, and not as fact.
If I hear anymore I will post it.

The fact that you and others post the snippets of information you get should be appreciated for what it is. There should be no need to plead with people to not take everything as fact.

The bits n pieces of gossip make this board worth reading for me personally so I hope you and others keep it coming despite the crap that can follow it from some posters. It sparks conversation and opinion and people absolutely need to see it as just “info”. I don’t always agree with the things you post or your opinion on things but appreciate the stuff you feel you can share so keep it coming !

Do we know that it isn’t? Can’t force the lad to sign it,
Never said we should force him to sign, reports this last year say that he was all set to sign his contract. If this head coach malarkey has put the kibosh on him signing then it's a bigger travesty than not getting a HC in. Surely kld and speakman cannot **** this up

There's one fact, and one fact only, and that's the same with every club on the entire planet.

SAFC will announce the new manager and say f*ck all about the process or any other candidates.

Whoever is appointed will be presented as the man the club wanted, unless it's a woman.

Seriously, football supporters have become forensic analysts of everything without having the facts.

Whoever it is we have absolutely no option but to cross our fingers, hope for the best and get behind our club.
