They are not dictating anything. The very fact that they are reducing petrol/diesel vehicles for sale in this country is an acceptance of the punitive fines. We dont want to be fined. This is how we avoid it.

Well i’m no longer a EV owner !
Sold Taycan last week at 3.5yrs old / 68k miles
depreciation is nasty BUT no different to where a same aged Range rover of similar new price / age and miles would have been
it saved me a lot of income tax when new, about 18k in fuel roughy, 4 tax discs and a few ULEZ charges. It was 100% reliable and we all enjoyed driving it. It charged at home 99% of the time and most charge away from home experiences i had were good and no real hassle
so why has it gone ? it suffered a complete brake failure a couple weeks ago (i mean pedal to floor no brakes !) wife driving and kids in the car at the time, my wife point blank refuses to drive it again and i can’t blame her
Porsche were rubbish and wanted to take no responsibility - long story but i got it sorted with them after elevation to Porsche GB and the DVSA then got rid asap !
if the brake thing hadn’t happened i reckon we would have kept it a lot longer - the battery hadn’t degraded at all over time or milage it was still doing similar range to when new, it did need a warranty as repairs as it aged could get lumpy i guess and only a main dealer can really do them and the software updates etc

Maybe I've got this wrong, but my understanding was that Ford are reducing numbers to be sold and then the quoted guy is the head of Peugeot, Citroen, Jeep and Opal - the four carmakers who coincidentally are the most behind in the electric race. I think he's talking his own book.
Ford are releasing the Explorer SUV electric in Europe in autumn.. the sales of this will dictate whether Ford continues with private vehicles in Europe. Should do well as it's got a 600km range and is the right size for the biggest selling car type - small SUV.

That's fair enough, but cars are ridiculously cheap in the UK, compared to the rest of Europe. I think I read that even before the war, new cars were the same price to buy in the UK as in Ukraine, despite the obvious salary differences. I think even in the second hand car market, the UK is the cheapest,, due to the number of new cars bought every year. In the UK, the average is to change car every four years, in Poland, it's every 8.
What are the prices in Germany, France and Scandinavian countries compared tours? For example how many months/years average wages cost to buy a new car by way of comparison?
