Hes already held talks, but decided against it? I feel theres something seriously wrong within our club right now, from ambition to alot of other things, and as fans i feel we are getting massively let down.

Better squad and more money having been in the prem last year. Realistically they should piss promotion, can't blame him for wanting to interview for it.

I’ve had at least 2 interviews on my working life where the job was great, package was fine .. I just didn’t think I could work with their senior management… it happens… but IF this is a factor, then they may need a re think

Interesting as Speakman is really gaining focus as a potential problem. I do wonder however if this is because of personal issues or simply as the one who is doggedly implementing KLDs strategy. We will be developing youth, finances will be balanced and quite simply won’t be ‘going for broke’.
I thought his dad has been telling everybody though and since Christmas last year ???
You have no idea what the reason is other than believing rumours, some fans love to be negative for the sake of it. Why not wait and see who we got before deciding if it's a good or bad appt
I have stayed away from this thread for months now can’t be arsed with speculation rumour and guesswork. I would prefer to have seen the club appoint and put out the usual welcome statement on SAFC.com in a timely manner within a few weeks of the final game of the season. Cannot believe it’s taking so long to find a manager, there’s something seriously amiss with the club. The board need To look at themselves and do what is needed to make us an attractive proposition for potential candidates as we obviously, for whatever reason, are not in the slightest bit attractive to potential managers at present!
This narrative is nonsense mind. I know a lot of people don’t like Speakman and he rubs them up the wrong way but he can be very charming and is a good salesman. Plus he talks the same language as young coaches.
I can’t believe he’s turning off candidates on initial interactions, when he’ll be turning it on, based on personality.
I guess the argument would be that it’s his reputation is preceding him and that’s the turn off but if that’s the case then how come we’re getting so far down the line with candidates in the first place. They just wouldn’t entertain our approach at all. Besides, where will Jansen or Still be doing due diligence that leads them to believe that a working relationship with Speakman would be a no go?
He’s now just been built up into this bogeyman and scapegoat that is being blamed for everything. There’s a load of valid criticism that can be levelled at him so there’s no need to resort to this.

TBH this thread has turned very toxic lately so I am a bit like scout think I will take a break for a bit, and like Smug alluded to will give all the wailing fannies a chance to calm down and look back with a bit more perspective instead of jumping on any rumour out there and treating everything as gospel.
