Aye, I'd been looking through a ton of stats last night (foolishly since I don't actually think there's much in the link) and what you've said backs up my main take aways. I don't see much Eredivisie though so I've no means of corroborating any of it with the eye test. A more direct, high intensity and aggressive style is more to my taste but someone, it may have even been you, said when discussing Rosenior, that a more possession based game is a much better way to showcase your team's talents. Our progress as a football club is going to be reliant on doing that so I can console myself with that if we do end up with a coach that favours a more possession heavy style (though I still think it doesn't reflect favourably on the hierarchy that we seem to be lurching stylistically all over the place with the head coaches we're apparently targeting) On your latter point, he's not only used to it but he's very accepting of it.
Yeah the leap from Still to Jansen is a strange one. I also am unsure it will happen but I think he may be the perfect candidate for what we are trying to do here.
Out of interest having a bit of a browse but can’t find anything linking us to Jansen. Any idea where this rumour came from Looking at his background seems a good fit not sure why he hasn’t been mentioned before
We're so much more of a smart club nowadays in so many ways but the supposed head coach choices just leave me scratching my head. How we apparently previously went from Poyet, to Keane, to Neil, to Mowbray, to Beale is baffling. Either they can't settle on an identity and lurch from idea to idea (otherwise known as doing a Short) or they don't know how to recruit a coach to fit that identity. The identity they have talked about wanting to implement is there to be seen in the U21's down so I personally think it's more likely the latter. Either way, it's not doing the model 'right'...
So my theory that we discounted Still in December because he didn't tick all the boxes isn't as far fetched as the rest of my ramblings?
I asked the feyenoord lads too first response was "very good choice" so I see ya two words from Kenny and raise you 3
Jansen had most European matches and best points average in AZ history and reached the conference league semi final in 22/23. One of Fabriozio's old tweets
Haha almost the same words. Mind, you will know, they ain’t a race of many words. Whenever I introduce Ken to Brits they like ‘he’s a bit rude’ then he has a Bev and they love the lad. Wouldn’t call him rude to his face as again, Dutch trait, the lads a ****ing unit. Ran into him in footy training once was like running into a brick wall.
