Where in 'the model' is it written that we can't sign experienced players?

Signing experienced players isn't 'ditching the model' or 'tweaking the model', its just signing experienced players.

Equally if he drives a hard bargain on what he wants he may be struggling to strike a deal with Lens in the context of a new DOF. We’ll definitely find out if we are pains in the arse if he can strike a deal with them in days when it’s taken weeks with us.

I'm wondering if part one of the plan was to fill the squad with a stupid amount of promising prospects and get minutes into them.

Then in part two, they assess the team/individuals and look at which are progressing and which are not, and where that leaves gaps. Then start plugging more marquee (championship standard) type players into said gaps.

Probably not. But **** me, that could be quite a clever and quite peculiar way of building a team.

Following on from the Board of Directors meeting on Saturday June 1st, the Racing Club de Lens announces changes in its governance.

An experienced manager, with a rare profile as a builder, Pierre Dréossi joins Racing as General Director. After a rich career as a professional player (more than 450 matches to his credit in Division 1), the native of Roubaix distinguished himself in executive functions which he has held for almost 30 years. Basic man of Stade Rennais FC for eleven seasons (2002-2013), a club of which he was notably General Manager, Pierre Dréossi held management positions at Paris FC (General Manager) and recently at FC Metz (Football Director) . In Artois, relaying to President Oughourlian, he will manage the club with a strong sporting tone and an ambition to rationalize its resources.

To expand this key sector and help Pierre Dréossi in his action, Racing is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Louis Leca to the role of sports coordinator. Pioneer of the club's new momentum, the former emblematic goalkeeper will evolve as close as possible to the professional group and the Sang et Or training center. Latest movement within the sports management, coming from the Girondins de Bordeaux, Diego J Lopez is committed with the RCL as head of the recruitment unit.

On the administrative side, in a logic of continuity of the important structuring work carried out since the club's return to Ligue 1, Benjamin Parrot takes on the role of Deputy General Manager. Member of the management committee, he is at the heart of all Racing development projects. He will manage all non-sporting functions on a daily basis, relying on the quality of the teams in place.

With no guarantee that any of that will work, but may ruin some of our young stars

Ben Parrot is definitely a yes man. All he does is repeat what his boss says.

From spending the last half hour scouring the internet nothing is really clear imo.

What's funny is that it seems their supporters are mirroring ours to an extent. There's been unrest about the Lebanese owner who's seen as 'not spending enough and cutting corners on appointments'. Is this press conference a statement from the owner in response to the supporters? Some seem to think they should appoint Dréossi which would mean we're fighting them over two managers, perhaps they're after Heckingbottom as well <laugh>

It did make me laugh to find my French twin who could fill in for me, on here, if I'm away on holiday.

"Donc arrêtons les spéculations restons positif et faisons confiance à JO après tout c est don argent pas le nôtre contentons nous de supporter de la meilleure manière j'en ai déjà vu d autres depuis mes 55 ans de supporter."

Translates as, 'FFS let's stop all this pointless whining and get behind the owner, it's him ploughing money into the club. He's much better than the two clowns who came before him, I've seen all this before over the last 55 years, Ha'way the Lens!'

A few fans seem to think they’re in trouble financially and are likely to sell a couple of their better players. It doesn’t seem a happy mood to me like. Just realising how ****e my French o level is as well.

Don't feel bad. I spent six years in a French speaking country and basically picked up how to order a large beer and a cheese and ham toastie.
