Or have the club done this with immediately getting out to roker report with a briefing. Followed by local journals with the same ?

All fun and games I guess but there is history here with us doing this. Span it with Neil, Pritchard and Stewart. Controlling the narrative is important I guess.

But aye, they need to sort themselves out and get a new man in asap.
You yourself was saying that it was all agreed prior to the Lens interest weren’t you?

Pritchard and Stewart I’m well on top of and they don’t apply here.

The theme is they aren't going to roll over like Quinn used to for anyone they don't feel has no room for progression.

As Speakman feels. That's the issue. Buzzing we are so obsessed with the progression of Dodds.

I want Rosenior so not defending Still but it’s fair that a manager judges us last season - and incomplete squad and the effective resignatiion of a reputable coach and a lack of backing for the new man in a crucial window and sees risk, with the same people talking about the same clever strategy and control that effectively brought relegation form. If we want to convince people we’re not going to rinse and repeat we change things in the set up. We seem to be sticking to it but it’s a mistake and provides no reassurance that coaches won’t be the next in line for frustration and limitation.
But Still was agreeable to it at the start of the week before a club that were in the Champions League this season came calling?

Said it was closer, never signed or done though. Always said the longer we leave it the risk is there. I feel the club should have done quicker work to reduce any concerns with staff / investment to make still think he could wait for a better offer.

Is it ever the fault of the club, for not doing deals timely or getting this over the line ?

AN had a 1 year contract that HE wanted. They offered new terms and he left to get full control at Stoke, which turns out shows the club were right not to give him more control.

Klopp was never in control of transfers when he first arrived at Liverpool. He gradually gained more control once he showed his abilities while the club improved.

So it's never the fault of the club and you are just going off their version of events that they put out after the fact.

Just wanted to know where we stand before anymore debate.

Their hands were tied though weren’t they with legally not being able to put anything binding in place until 1st June?

If Nice weren’t about to appoint the Lens manager then Still would be getting revealed today was my understanding, is that wrong?

Of course the club will take some blame.

They've always said they are looking to be wiser with the money and progress the club with the Academy. The issues is that most managers will want more control/money as it's likely they'll not be around long enough to see any progress under that.

First of all the fan base are not patient enough to allow someone 3/4 years to build a squad of young players to get back to the Premiership.

Secondly the fans will always twist if we ain't spending millions on players as they will be considered penny pinching.

At the end of the day the majority seem to want someone like Newcastle who'll pump millions into the club without the club being on the hook for it.

Going back to the years of giving every manager who walks through the door power and money is the worst thing that could happen. The manager should come in and prove his worth before he demands more.

Not a solicitor mate but all I know is that he wasn't happy and negotiations went on for weeks , I think the club and should have done more to reduce any concerns so if a club did come in, he was happy with what we offered.

Dodds and Proctor shouldn't be on the front bench. We shouldn't have gave him half a season. They shouldn't enter any conversations about any head coach wanting to come in.

Again, some reports are saying Still was getting his coaching staff.

Going around in circles with this one. Nobody knows what Still was or wasn't told to put up with.

Should Speakman prove his worth after a solid year of regression?

Maybe he had limited options. It’s just as likely he was seeking other better opportunities. Romano even said he was open to offers. It was clear then he wouldn’t sign.

AN was class in that run in. Picked a team to win, our issue wasn’t only terms it was the Speakman relationship.

Yet we drew something like 6 or 7 games and lost a few to some poor opposition in that run up.

We went backwards because of injuries and lack of direction from the bench the second half of the season.

Would we have finished so low had MB not been hounded out without a fair crack of the job? Possibly not.

I agree KS has to get this appointment right + a couple of quality players through the door this summer.

Is this still going on? It's quite clear that Still was offered a better deal elsewhere. Logically, everything points to that being the much more likely scenario. Even if the club were saying he had to have Dodds and Proctor on his staff, if he's getting his own people why's it so difficult to incorporate two people who know the club and have good reputations as coaches?

i'm just going to post 1 more time, im happy that roker report, craig hope and scott wilson has confirmed what i was saying with all agreed and the 1st of june and planned announcement this week, so ill just leave 1 more thing still couldn't officially sign a contract till the 1st of june he's tried to play us off against lens for more money,he got his wish and got what he asked for here if the clubs fibbing you'll easily be able to see on the next appointment and how involved dodds is
Don't let it bother you mate, some things happen some don't. It's only a forum, some on here will hammer you, so **** move on mate, life's to short to worry about **** like this

Imagine any club at championship level or even league one insisting any new manager/head coach has to work with the footballing giants Mike Dodds and own goals proctor?

No wonder they can't get a decent candidate through the door. So predictable and Speakmans arrogance is shining through here. Going backwards at a rate of knots.
