It is. He has played the game. However this is why the club should have eliminated doubts over staffing and investment early doors and got a stronger commitment earlier. Leaving it so late into May was always brining other clubs into the fold.

The staff situation is not confirmed. I've seen reports that he was getting what he wanted.....

All anyone knows is that him and his staff ain't coming here.

I just hope it's a last minute play for power and it gets sorted.

How quick do you think we move onto our next target?

After waking up this morning, reading through the dozens of pages here to see we have seemingly missed out on Still, I became really quite pissed off.

I'm now actually very relaxed. Oddly.

The transfer window isn't yet open. Preseason is a way off. Still time to get the new man in, plenty out there who are just as if not more appealing than Still.

I do concede that I think failing to get him looks pretty poor but overall we are in no worse position than we were, other than suffering a relatively minor PR misstep.

We need someone in within the next week or so really. They need to want to be here and to work within the structure and to develop young players. We need a good summer in the transfer market.

Nothing changes until something changes.

**** Will Still.
A bit like me mate disappointed and TBH it would be nice to know exactly what happened, that said I think Lens coming in late is probably closer to the truth than anything else.
My take on it is he has had his head turned very quickly by Lens and if his reasons are self development that is OK but if he was not sold on his chance with us and was only going to take the job in the hope something better came along the maybe just maybe we have dodged am Alex Neil type bullet who knows.
It has however made me less confident in how our club is trying to operate and I think a lot of fans will be feeling this however supportive they are. Confidence is a big thing in professional sport be that from players or fans. I hope the club can build that confidence back with a great forward thinking appointment.
If the Will Still to Lens is true then I think the club will need to reevaluate and take a little more time as I don't want another MB knee jerk appointment.
Time for us as fans to dust ourselves down, keep the toys in the pram and try to be a bit more optimistic about the future as difficult as that can be at times.

With respect, it has been said on here for a good while that it's been a sticking point. This along with the fella from the athletic, who is as factual as the come also said the same. I could share some DMs that note this stuff that go back a few weeks and even as close as last week. But it's done now.

Imagine if there was a uturn, be canny funny to watch.

Yep, I don't think I am/was really so attached to the idea of Still that not getting him is any kind of daunting failure.

If they move on and get someone whose profile fits and who excites us, it's really a case od no lasting harm done.

They need to pull their finger out now though.

I hope there isn't now.

I think there would be plenty with a chip on their shoulder about how he seems to have strung us along and pied us off.

Better find someone who is a bit keener to commit themselves to the club as it is and the task at hand.

Hopefully they already have. I see Rosenior in with a good chance.
I am not really a big fan of Rosenior as I watched Hull a fair bit last year and his set up is very defensive which worries me as that is similar to Beale and Dodds set ups which really worries me, last year we played a fairly open attacking style which TBH was forced on us by a small squad with injuries. As soon as we had more availability we went back to a defensive style and that has coincided with a drastic loss of form. For me you don't double down on something which is not working but we seem to be doing just that.

Tough call. I have more respect for him as he wouldn't just come and have some of the same staff in key positions. Wanted better. That's ambitious and wanting the best to make it work.
My worry is we get a Rosenior type in who is a yes man and happy to have Dodds and Proctor on the front bench again.

Bullet dodged in my opinion (and this isn’t just sour grapes revisionism on my part, feel free to look back over my posts). His briefing of the press and attempt to control the narrative to say that it was the club’s short comings despite all previously being agreeable to him is typical of his time at Reims.

He was always self serving and intent on self preservation to the extent that he’d constantly pit the fans against their owner and their board.

Whilst I’m not saying I want a ‘yes man’ (whatever the **** that is) I do feel, with where the club is at the minute, we are in desperate need for someone to come in and unify everyone from KLD down to the fans. They can be as vocal as they like behind the scenes but, in my opinion, should present a united front to get the fans on board and get this juggernaut of a club building up some momentum. I don’t want someone sniping and back biting to make excuses and save face. If Still didn’t feel it was right for him then I’m glad he’s not come.

We still know that the assurances on investment and staffing were enough for Still at the start of the week so that should give reassurance to us all. There’s no shame in not being able to compete with Lens, they’re a brilliant club, it’s just a shame that Still felt the need to publicly move the goalposts to save face.

Or have the club done this with immediately getting out to roker report with a briefing. Followed by local journals with the same ?

All fun and games I guess but there is history here with us doing this. Span it with Neil, Pritchard and Stewart. Controlling the narrative is important I guess.

But aye, they need to sort themselves out and get a new man in asap.

I want Rosenior so not defending Still but it’s fair that a manager judges us last season - and incomplete squad and the effective resignatiion of a reputable coach and a lack of backing for the new man in a crucial window and sees risk, with the same people talking about the same clever strategy and control that effectively brought relegation form. If we want to convince people we’re not going to rinse and repeat we change things in the set up. We seem to be sticking to it but it’s a mistake and provides no reassurance that coaches won’t be the next in line for frustration and limitation.

The club were right on the AN, Stewart and Pritchard deals.

Is there any evidence Rosenior is a yes man?

Just because you may get a win at the end doesn't mean the decision at the time was right. They got got money for Stewart but contract should have been sorted sooner. Neil should have been sorted soon. It all gets spam after the fact to the blame of the other person. Canny theme developing I say.

They offered improved terms and yet he still left.

AN looked after No.1 while serving up some piss poor football. Yes he got us up, but that squad should have gone up automatically for me.

Is it ever the fault of the club, for not doing deals timely or getting this over the line ?

The theme is they aren't going to roll over like Quinn used to for anyone they don't feel has no room for progression.
