My answer to your question Ashton is a definite NO as Israel is on a seek and destroy mission until all Hamas fighters, along with the vast majority of innocent civilians, are obliterated. The old adage of not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslim still stands strong and from a U.K. standpoint you must do everything in your power to stop the formation of a political wing of the Islamic religion because that single factor would destroy the lives that our grand-parents fought so hard to maintain. There are certain minority populations that will never adhere to the rules of this new found freedom they have been given in their new homes and that shows total disrespect for the country in which they now live. The same problem exists on a much lower level in Canada but nevertheless it is still a big issue to be kept under control going forward. Stop apologizing for wanting to be British and deal harshly with those who want otherwise before it is too late.

The Palestinian population includes the West Bank. The West Bank is governed by Fatah. The Fatah that are opposed to Hamas.
In Gaza the murderous cycle of Hamas attacking Israel cannot continue if Israel removes Hamas ability to operate militarily.
The IRA were not a government. The IRA were catholic and didnt want to kill all Jews.

The IRA were the armed wing of Sinn Fein - a political party, who have had aspirations of government in the same way as any political party does.
You are right in that they were not specifically anti Jewish, but if a Brit happened to be Jewish he/she was fair game.
They used terror tactics against the people of Northern Ireland as well as the mainland - and even tried to commit an atrocity in Gibraltar, which was foiled by a tip off from the Spanish police.
They controlled their own communities by threats of violence and intimidation.
As I see it, the differences are simply the causes - the IRA were seeking to bring about a united Ireland by forcing the UK out of Northern Ireland and the Hamas want the end of Israel - the Jewish state.
The methods they used are similar - as are their disregard for the people they destroyed
Batshit crazy Hamas want the total destruction of Israel and want to wipe the jewish race of the face of the earth!! Hamas also want a Islamic state were non muslims cannot live and there would be be no living side by side with non Muslims!!
