Why, are they violent or something? Seems like a racist insinuation.

You can take it there if you want, or just consider it from the perspective of saying something to someone's face and seeing how upsetting it can be for that person rather than behind a screen. But after your comment the other day and doubling down on it to someone who was clearly unhappy about it, I don't think you seem particularly capable of empathy.

Typically, racism is built on generations and generations of oppression at the hands of a group of people that believe themselves superior to everyone else. Considering the English (and many other white countries and/or empires) were usually the ones that believed they were better, and then went about benefiting from the subjugation of others (usually indigenous people of colour), then no, it’s not the same.

If you change 'English' to just about any other group, it would be at least equally valid, and more so in several cases, but you would have been castigating the author as racist. The Scots and Welsh are pretty proud and protective about their role in the Empire for a kick off.

It's a funny old world.

I will admit that I do often think about the things my generation says that will be called out by generations of the future. I’d like to think that I’ll be open-minded enough to accept that I was wrong, listen, and learn instead of burying my head in my own ignorance. Then again, that’s probably what every generation before me thought as well.
Err No, I never give it a second thought.

Reactions: Gone For A Walk
What do you suggest instead? Because unfortunately, this forum has to reckon with the fact that there are posters on here that regularly post racist comments, and that is not okay. There should be no tolerance for it whatsoever. Visibly challenging people on their abhorrent and outdated views shows to other members – and potential members – that people here don’t accept these offensive views and that this is a space accepting of all people. If posters stay silent, it shows that ignorance is tolerated, we all become complicit, and everyone loses until this community dies.
Speak for yourself you tiresome blowhole.
