Not sure if it's just me and I'm misreading it but Phil Smith seems to be of the impression Still and Maric are not currently in the running https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...so-long-and-where-it-currently-stands-4627768
I don’t think Phil Smith has a clue who’s in the running. But that said it really wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a name we haven’t been linked with publicly. I definitely don’t think it’s Maric. Still and Svensson maybe. But three days ago I’d never heard of Svensson. At literally any moment another name might come out.
What I find annoying about a lot of the current reporting on the club is the deliberately negative tone it takes. It seems that a lot (basically all) of the journalists that cover the club just want to amplify the negativity that a section of the fanbase is feeling. While the Echo should report critically on events that happen in the town and in connection with the club I also feel that a local paper, and maybe I'm being too idealistic here, should demonstrate some civic pride and at least try not to talk everything down.
There is a lot of pressure on the club hierarchy to get this appointment right, more so than I can remember with regards to a manager appointment. Makes you wonder if this is dragging on because they are so worried about making the same mistake that they have become indecisive. That in itself could be a disaster and put off potentially the best option out there. That’s just me thinking out loud though and I’m sure it’s not the case, makes you wonder though when it has gone on for so long.
There appears to be a complete lack of leadership at the moment. Yet to see or hear any acknowledgment of mistakes made and how things may be addressed in the future. How Speakman and Dodds are still in post is beyond me.
We have less than no idea what's happening in the club. Not sure how you can diagnose a lack of leadership as the problem.
Could be an inspired appointment but it asks a ****ing lot of Ashworth, Wilcox and Barrada. They will have to do a lot of good work quickly to make the conditions friendly enough for a green coach.
Mad mistake has said that his mate goes to plenty u21 games and has a natter to speakman etc and he asked if he was going to Lyon and he said “no he’s staying and he wants to finish the job”
Yes that's true enough. We're certainly falling way behind all the other clubs making lengthy statements acknowledging their mistakes and addressing how things will be improved in the future. I'm pretty sure Birmingham City recently took a full page, in the Times, saying how they'd totally f*cked up their season and how they'll never be relegated to the third division ever again.
Poor leaders will always choose 'do nothing' as the first option until they are forced kicking and screaming into doing anything. Whether that's what's happening is up for debate, but that in of itself is an absolute fact. While nothing happens, it's always a perfectly reasonable opinion.
We can debate it all we want. It won't change what's happening inside the club and it won't change the fact that we are utterly clueless. Stating such things definitely just looks like tiresome wilful ignorance.
But our leaders are not doing nothing?? or do you disagree. They have just promoted David Bruce from within the club after his excellent work getting the Hummel deal and the link up with Fanatics over the line. They have announced a multi million pound investment in the stadium. The ladies and junior teams as well as the U23 have all had good developmental seasons. There is a lot of work that has been going on and we are by no means rudderless or lacking leadership as has been suggested earlier in the thread and IMO we have a good leadership team who are learning all the time and seem to be getting more right than wrong. I am not blind to the problems we do have but believe at this moment that they will get things right and hopefully this next HC appointment will be a very good one for the club. The word patience has been used on here many times and for good reason. At the minute most of the first team squad will be on holiday or spending time with family, I would not expect the club to announce a new HC until the team has been told first as this seems to be the right way to do it. For all anyone knows we may well have agreements in place but are awaiting informing the players so they do not hear about on Facebook or the media before hearing from their own club.
I think the number of season tickets sold so far shows how patient our fans are, I am staggered at how many have renewed, just shows the moaners who populate social media are in a minority, some of their points however are valid and last season was a complete clusterfuck! (Yes I have renewed)
