I've been to Rome, i'd like to see Pisa, and i've never been to Garda and Sorrento, these will be next on the list after the 2 islands. Pisa i could tie in with a trip to Florence it's only an hours drive or so, but we always get sidetracked, Siena is beautiful as well, so long as you don't mind walking up hills!
The whole of that region is beautiful! The north is a bit too flat and dull, the south is almost like a third-world country, but around Tuscany and Umbria is my favourite area. There's more to Pisa than the tower, though (God, I sound like a bloody tour guide!) There's this tiny church made of white marble, completely out of place, just on the banks of the Arno, in the middle of the town!
Yes Syd even as 30 something I still remember those games. In fact on the way home I still play spot Penshaw Monument with the wife... winner gets ........ Well lets just say its better than the lolly I used to get as a kid
I'd recommend Venice to everyone at least once. If you like old/interesting stuff you wont be bored. Go in the colder months as is quieter and does not smell of crap. Also go before it is completely under water another tip.
Now you.ve got me going.Used to walk there from Blackhall (the Coliery) and back no problem' Stop for an ice cream at Pieronis then on to the beech. But in those days there was no season tickets for the likes of us it was all turnstiles and pay as you go in and Roker Park always seemed full because with the terraces it wasn't so obvious.
Rest assured mate, when i hit Italy i explore, i love the country, i love the food and the culture, i even like the people (many don't!). It's daft that i ain't seen Pisa, considering i've been to Florence maybe 8 or 9 times, i know what you mean about the north, very little appeal, although i'd like to see Milan. PrisonBroken, aye, Venice i'd like to see, probably sort summat mushy out for a weekend with the other half, she'd love it.
Love Italy, Florence, Sienna and Rome big favourites. Been going to Sorrento and Lake Garda in recent years. This has reminded me its time to revisit a few other places.
Do I win a prize? I remember trips to Crimdon Dene as a lad (what were those bikes called?) We even ventured down as far as Filey one year. Happy days. These days I sit and sup the vino in Italy. Echo what has been said about Tuscany. Cheap flight to Pisa and head south. Great fun. Is Crimdon still open? Looking to book summer hols...
I love the hire cars in Italy. We've had a v6 Alfa 156, a c-class Merc, and a BME 330CL! Beats the 1.0 Micra's you get in Greece!
Have you seen this little motorbike/cars they have in Italy? They're made by Piaggio, called Ape please log in to view this image Don't make them any more sadly, bit I WANT ONE!!!
Make one for next season for the matchday weekend, could be a good idea, looks like they may stay up.
