So where does the real problem at the club sit? If there is a problem? Is it KS has he caused all the clubs problems. Is KLD? You must know as you have stated that in this message. Do you have inside information as to the workings of the club? Have you attended board meetings or have you just taken info from this forum and some snippets from click bait and ill informed media to draw your conclusion that KLD is to blame for 1 promotion, 1 crack at the playoffs and a mid table finish. Yes there are some problems that is apparent but there is no need for a witch hunt to get people sacked. MD was clearly out of his depth at head coach and I have been critical of him because of his defensive mind set but still believe he was very good when in charge of personal player development. KS biggest mistake was the appointment of MB and I am pretty sure he was not first or even 2nd choice but they decided to appoint which was a mistake. But you are talking like you want the owner gone which I think is ridiculous and TBH very short sighted as I believe longer term we will be stronger.
I've watched a little bit of German football so Svensson I've at least heard of...I know nothing about the others in the frame. Whoever it is, a decision needs to be made...would love our club to have some stability for a couple of seasons running for a change.
I may be blinkered but I think many criticisms of the owner ultimately boil down to one thing, spend. Ambition, flex, 'the right players', etc etc etc all really mean spend. People want more money thrown at the squad which is fair enough, sadly we were twice relegated doing that so it's not always the answer. Birmingham have shown how easy it is to make the wrong managerial decision. They made two critical mistakes in appointing Rooney then, inadvertently, Mowbray. The mistake with Rooney is self evident, the mistake with Mowbray was that Venus had to take charge and almost immediately said he couldn't manage. Dodds, at least, gave it his best with a dispirited squad and didn't just shrug his shoulders. Ineffective managerial choices are difficult to avoid, very few managers actually win anything and just as many are relegated ... ... at least Sunderland are attempting to instill a method and a plan whereas some clubs, like Stoke, simply jump from one 'great idea' to another coupled with random spending. I'm happy with Plan A for the moment but hoping for more progress this season.
He would be a cracking appointment, not far off the same number of points per game that tuchel had there
Pretty much how I feel at the minute. I think season 1 and 2 were good but season 3 has seen a bit of levelling out for a lot of reasons but I don't think that we are anywhere near stagnating it is really what most fans have mentioned a bit of patience is required and as difficult as that is for some it is what is needed. IMO we will be stronger next year if we get the Summer right. But I can't see into the future and have little to no idea what goes on at the club, what I can do though is look at situations and formulte thoughts positive or negative based on info available and for almost every negative scenario put forward by some I could place a positive slant on it if needed. There were negatives last season and I won't try to deny that but there were also a lot of positives to anybody who would choose to look.
Yeah, I’d be happy with him as well. Bits of their games I’ve seen whilst they do play 5 at the back they do play front foot and high intensity which I think might, with the right additions this summer, suit us and engage the supporters in the ground which was lacking most of last season. Hope we get him.
I'm as frustrated as anyone but the term 'total clearout' sends shivers through me. The owner is building the club back up from almost total destruction. The fabric of the squad, stadium and administration were all shot to pieces and I honestly believe they're all improving or will improve this summer. Some of the work is almost thankless and difficult to see, at times, but the SOL will be a better place to go, the AOL more likely to attract players/coaches and our transfer negotiations better than they've ever been imo.
With the introduction of a new name, is it just me, or is it clear there was no plan ever in place. It maybe all the paper stories are just that and the owner is holding out for one particular coach... But if there is a modicum of truth in any of these stories then we don't have plan and waiting to see who is available, which for me was a waste of time writing off half a season by sacking two coaches during this season...especially the first one.
Or maybe we do have a plan and have a main target in mind and for some reason have had to wait to get the deal done
I actually like 3 at the back, when i used to coach the most attacking team i had was 1 that played 3421. If used right it can help give you a solid base and allow your wingbacks to push up high then your 2 10's to float and cause problems. Or it can be used to get 2 strikers on the pitch while still controlling the centre of the pitch
They may have been talking with Svensson since January for all we know. He may not have wanted to come mid season for either footballing or financial reasons.
I’ve never really understood the accusations of penny pinching (I just think most of the accusations fall flat when held up to the slightest bit of scrutiny) but now we’ve just released a set of accounts showing that our level of spend is at the very least competitive for this level I understand it even less.
Had never heard of Svensson until last night. Have spent the morning reading about him and he’s now my preferred candidate. Which will mean we end up with someone else doesn’t it.
Moaners gotta have something to moan about marra Lets say for example that Pep left City and then he came to us, people would still say we did it on the cheap as he was free
