Spot on with this, had more bad games than good this season in a very poor league He is a big powerful lad and is a decent finisher - doesnt offer the same mobility or workrate as stewart did Wouldnt be against signing him but not sure hes worth what they want (around 4 million)
The stuff I’ve seen of him I’d say he looks quite good. 25 goals this season too. I feel like he could really do well here
Also 4m I would pay that personally for a decent goalscorer. We paid that for mundle and Hjelde combined
He isnt worth 4 million, link up play is very poor, movement can be very static at times, lacks mobility youd look for in a championship striker As i said i dont mind but he isnt worth 4 million - i watched a boy Daniel Fila the other day and he is younger than Mirovic and would cost about 1-1.5 million and would do a better job imo
Decent goalscorers are only goalscorers in teams that fit them. We can't have that kind of outlay on a player so poor in possession if we are going to be a possession based side, imo.
He absolutely would be and as a multi millionaire there should be no reason why he wouldn't want a fairy tale ending to his career. Unfortunately i dont think we're the kind of club to make a deal like this happen
I get that point, but I think that’s how we end up with strikers that aren’t really strikers because we want them to be good passing and linking up. Can’t be coincidence that we keep ending up with strikers that are more like wingers and 10’s than number 9’s. We really lack the killer instinct of a striker
I’d love to see Henderson back. As said by others the knock on benefits to the younger players would be immense
Need more than just a killer instinct as a striker these days, thats why they are so hard to find If you have a striker that offers little from general play they are ineffective unless their team is dominate Really hard to find strikers that can do the lot - its why they go for huge money
I'd rather one that can actually be a viable option in link up play and bring others in. Your striker doesn't need to score if the team is and they are contributing to others scoring. Gelhardt is a poor finisher but it's no coincidence that after putting him in the team that is when Amad really started to catch fire. Miovski definitely fits a direct, heavy crossing style of play. We don't have the players to do that. We have wingers who are dribblers and would rather cut in, full backs who aren't comfortable in crossing positions and a squad thats just not built for going direct at all. Unless we change the squad and style I don't see at all how it works. Not even close to Stewart. @FellTop 's man Hardie would be a better fit.
As we have had of mention Stewart and his work rate, link up play, defensive capabilities. One thing I was dreading Stewart leaving wasn't his goalscoring but his off the ball work. He would constantly lead the line in closing the back 4 of the opposition down, pestering them not given them a seconds peace and a few times it created a goal! His finishing was decent to good but imo was probably one of the weaker sides of his game. His work off the ball was phenomenal and I always thought we would struggle to find a striker to give us that again. From people like @Scout73 who watch a lot of football, am I right in the thinking very few strikers have it about them to work as hard as Stewart did?
Thats the issue, many think all we need is a striker with a good goal record, we need a striker who does a good all round job.
His defensive data for the league one season is some of the best i've ever seen. Even in the small sample size of last season it was so good and that was coming off an injury.
Part time scout mate, work with a European team I have sent plenty scouting reports to Sunderland on players i like that i think would suit us..... never heard back from anyone tho (understandable but still a bit disappointed) Theres a couple others on here that do some scouting as well so always good to hear their views on players
